Russia’s Military Buildup Around Ukraine: What Satellite Images Reveal | WSJ

Correction: The Iskander-M has a range of 500km easily and is not very likely to be armed with a nuclear warhead because the missile is only a 1 stage system so you can’t really attach a nuclear warhead unless you take apart the entire missile.

But who Knows there probably are some. But I’ve heard Micheal Kofman, a man I respect greatly state in the past that you can just go to a warehouse and exchange the missiles warhead to a nuclear one. I disagree I’ve seen the missile up close and there is absolutely no screws to remove the upper cone where the usually 1,500LB HE warhead is. I couldn't agree with you more, but it seems to me that the Russian government wants a war all the same. My dad once said to me, but I think he was quoting someone, 'Imagine it's war and no one goes there'. I used to think the way to prevent a war was simply to refuse to fight. But if Russia wants to invade Ukraine for its own reasons, then I wonder how they can be stopped. Certainly not by the western nations just saying 'We're staying out of this', because Russia would be b like 'Great, that's just what we wanted and now this country belongs to us'. And especially because, if I have this right, Ukraine has wanted to join Nato since 2008, it seems cruel to just leave them to Russia. We're basically saying 'No you can't join our club' and then 'Now we won't protect you because you're not in the club'.

Russia historically hardly uses soft power such as sanctions and geopolitical alliance building/maneuvering. Russia historically gets what it wants through military force aka hard power. The Soviets did it all the time, with Afghanistan, and eastern Europe. Now modern day Russia uses hard power when they invaded Georigia, Annexed Crimea, and instigated and funded civil war in Ukraine for the past 8 years. Russia only understands hard power, and we should have responded in the only language Russia can understand. As soon as Russia started placing troops on the border of Ukraine, America should've placed troops in Ukraine as well. Russia knows they'd lose a conventional war against NATO, invading would mean nuclear war which russia wont risk

USA caused the original dispute and loaned Ukraine money to buy their own US armaments! Now they have lent Ukraine more money to buy more out of date armaments from the USA. USA do not want Europe to buy gas from Russia and delayed the installation of Nord Stream 2, because USA wanted to sell Europe its liquified gas at twice the price. (There are insufficient tankers or ports to provide all the gas Europe needs!) As a result, Russia increased sales of gas to China leaving Europe out in the cold and causing the price increase of gas worldwide! Then with all the silly war games around Russia's borders and now 100,000 troops on their borders, what do you expect Russia to do but to amass troops on their side? USA have started so many false wars since the second world war, won none and destroyed so many of the countries they invaded! USA needs to stop believing 007 films depicting Russia as the dangerous warmongers. 007 films need to concentrate in future as USA being the bad country. USA needs to worry about China since they are taking the world over by stealth! So could Russia be helping China to amass everyone's troops and armaments around Russia so China has a free hand to invade elsewhere! Boris annoyed Russia so much with his 'friends' from USA by sending troops and armaments for silly war games around Russia for months and supported the USA's attempt to slow down the Nord Stream 2 so much, that Russia sold excess gas to China. This is a major cause of the hike in gas/electricity prices! Boris you are an idiot. One day, we might have a government that is sensible enough to realise that the planet works better with international trade cooperation. Does Boris believe all the block buster films including the 007 films which portray Russia as a warmongering nation? USA start all the wars, destroy the countries they attack and loan the countries money to destroy them economically and then sell them their out of date armaments. USA is dragging us down, they are not friends of the UK! By whose authority has UK sent any troops/armaments etc to Ukraine? UK taxpayers money to threaten Russia that are not even threatening us but could Nuke us because of the UK government action!

You can’t broker a peace if someone made up their mind months of not years ago. The issue is that sometimes, the only thing you can do is to prepare for all eventualities and often, the world doesn’t wait for you to catch up. Case in point, Europe going through a lot of major crisis in the last 30 decades which lead to a dependency on Russian energy - sometimes you hope that something is not going to happen because you can not stop it and then it does and you got to improvise.
