Russia gives its soldiers financial incentives for capturing ground | DW News

Three times the average salary, bonuses for capturing ground, and compensation for being killed. Russia is boosting its financial incentives to recruit soldiers to fight in Ukraine. We take a close look at how much Moscow pays its military.
Both Ukraine and Russia are struggling to maintain the size of their armies. Ukraine is running a campaign telling citizens to "overcome their fear" and enlist, and has cracked down on bribes paid to avoid deployment. Meanwhile Moscow has boosted the salaries paid to soldiers since the start of its invasion. They now earn three times the average wage, with bonuses for capturing territory. But how lucrative is a career in Putin's army?

I suspect that those 47.500€ are the number they arrived at by dividing the actually paid death compensation sum by the officially acknowledged number of dead, which is something like a 20th of the real number (of free actual russian citizens who died serving the military). that would be in the ballpark of 2400€ per family, which sounds about right to me.
