People don’t understand there’s a difference between having a core audience and having casual fans. Casual fans will listen to your songs cuz it’s recommended or in a playlist. They’ll like IG posts, retweet, and go to a festival to see you and 50 other artists. But that’s not REAL support. The core audience will go out of their way to buy albums, merch, vinyl, and tour tickets. Playlists and algorithms won’t stop a core fan from supporting.

Russ is right. The crazy this is that these artists want the machine to machine for them... they want playlists, placements, they buy followers, radio, awards and give steroids to streaming numbers and sales, but then complain that the system that rigged their succes is rigged. Lol All these numbers and engagements are boosted. So it's the artist' own fault if they didn't build a more organic and COMMITTED fan base. You might have millions of followers but how many of those millions aren't bots and how many of them aren't just following you to see more of your TMZ type f*&*×ry? Many of these artists are spoiled and feel entitled to success. But as long as they are depending on politics and internet tricks drive their success, they can't complain when the machine moves on to the next. Live by it, die by it
Show Business is truly a popularity contest. Rap music is junk food popular but the numbers don’t lie. The labels forced a mass produced business model that they benefit from while the quality of the music or culture suffers

Because Russ is saying something. He’s telling artists to stop complaining when their streams are down because they don’t have real fans and rely on playlists that they don’t own and are created entirely based on the owners music preference. He simply didn’t make the cut because it’s not good enough, and because he doesn’t have a real fan base, he suffers and needs that. That’s it, that’s all.

Yes the industry (specifically media) tried to blackball X HARD. Artists fucked with him but couldn't publicly support, even after he died. NOWADAYS it's a bit different since the internet's hate for him has subsided a great deal in the public's conscience, but yes he very much was (and still is) 'blackballed' - but his crackhead fanbase + undeniable talent/influence made it utterly impossible for the industry to just blot him out. Artists with diehard fans will always eat + be successful without the 'industry'. Acts like X and the Griselda cats are great examples of that. Dababy has done nothing to curry favor + build a fanbase - nigga is just hostile and unapproachable. Why would anyone want to support him and his antics + bad music?
