When is the last time? Easy: The opening to Iron Maiden's "Fear of the Dark."

Rush in Rio is one of my favorite live recordings of all time, because this is a crowd hyped beyond all sense of reason! Basically Brazil had an incredible fan base for the band... but Rush wasn’t really aware of it until this late stage of their career. So you had all these people in Brazil, fans who had abandoned all hope of ever witnessing Rush live... but when Rush did eventually find out, they deliberately added an extra two or three shows in Brazil. The documentary included on the DVD shows you the passion unleashed, men and women both just weeping openly just at the anticipation that Rush is coming... and then this, a football stadium filled to the brim with people whose dreams are finally realized. Simply epic...

“They ain’t said a damned word. Not one word. They’re just letting those instruments talk.” That sums up Rush perfectly. Great video. Thank you for helping keep one of the world’s greatest bands alive in perpetuity.

You know you're good when you can get nearly half a million Brazilians to sing along to an instrumental.

I'm going to suggest "Limelight" and "Subdivisions", two of Rush's hits. A lot of the die-hard Rush fans will suggest their more obscure works, and I'm sure they're great, but their hits are fantastic.

Saw them at the Polaris Amphitheater in Columbus Ohio in the late 1990's. A bunch of us rented a hotel and partied B4 the show.....I drank 9 (near frozen) beers in 42 minutes! I remember about 1/2 the show....and even that's quite a bit fuzzy. But hey....that's how we rolled back then! Show would have been much better if I only drank 3!

Being a lifelong fan of Rush and having seen them live, I have 3 recommendations for you 1. The Spirit of Radio 2. Jacob's Ladder 3. This might confuse you, but you need to listen to YYZ again but Live from their "exit...stage left" tour. It has one of if not THE best drum solo of all time. Godspeed and welcome to the fandom

In an interview, Geddy Lee once said that YYZ was his favorite piece to play as it was the most challenging and always pushed them to do their best.

Well…. He’s certainly on the Mt Rushmore of rock drumming. And it’s true to say he’s a percussionist as well. But if we compare him to other percussionists-- he’s not even on any kind of “greatest” list. If you are comparing him, as a percussionist, to other rock drummers who aren’t percussionists, then yeah, he’s gonna look pretty great. But what Neil does on keyboard percussion or tympani is just a warmup exercise for any decent college percussionist. Not to mention truly world-class professional percussionists. Neil is one of the greatest rock drummers of all time. And that’s pretty high praise. No need to inflate it.

In case you were wondering about the laundromat machines on the side of the stage, Geddy did that as a joke, since he doesn't use huge bass amps on stage and runs direct to the sound system, which would normally leave that side of the stage empty. On other tours, he had chicken rotisseries, and a guy in a chicken suit would come out occasionally during the show to tend to the chickens inside.

The tour I saw had the rotisseries, but it was a dude in full chef duds (2 foot tall hat and all) checking on the birds periodically and it was great

Rush makes it look so effortless. They're so machine oriented in their playing precision, that they can walk bass lines and drum fills like they're ad-libbing in songs, but that's exactly how it's supposed to sound. Easily Canada's greatest contribution to music.

I've seen Rush 6 times, and the energy level at a live show of theirs is simply unmatched!

I think you're the most genuine reactor on you tube. You can tell you really appreciate the music and the talent. I'm 47 and grew up with all this great classic rock and metal and it's really cool to see someone who gets it from the first listen. Loved the Rush reactions, I would suggest "Spirit of Radio" from them. Keep up the good work. God Bless.

Fun fact...The cover for this album "Moving Pictures" is a triple entendre; the front depicts movers who are carrying pictures. On the side, people are shown crying because the pictures passing by are emotionally "moving". Finally, the back cover has a film crew making a motion picture of the whole scene. It was photographed outside the Ontario Legislative Building at Queen's Park, Toronto. The pictures that are being moved are the band's Starman logo featured on the reverse cover of 2112 (1976), one of the Dogs Playing Poker paintings entitled A Friend in Need, and a painting that shows Joan of Arc being burned at the stake. The film crew on the back cover actually shot the scene, from which a single frame was used for the cover. This was revealed to Rush concertgoers several years later when the still image was shown on the stage projector which suddenly came to life as a film sequence.

This vid is from their final tour, a few years ago. You've seen them young, and you see and hear them at the peak of their powers, 45 years later....

This was filmed in 2003 for their Rush in Rio DVD box set. Their final tour was 2015 on the R40 tour. Alex officially declared the band retired during a press conference in January 2018

This song is about a life of traveling and returning home. YYZ is the code for the Toronto International Airport.

Whenever I see a Rush :::live::: video, I feel like a caveman watching aliens: I am amazed by what I’m seeing and I can’t fathom how it’s possible

The audience was singing along to the instruments. Another great reaction from my favorite reactor. I noticed you got a huge boost in subs in a short time. you have enthusiasm for music that is contagious.

An incredible fact about Neil is that at the height of his greatness he went back into learning how to perfect his technique with Freddie Gruber. Amazing and astonishing. A multi-generational talent the likes of which will never be seen again. RIP Neil Peart.

Goosebumps!!! I'd love to see "The Garden", please...such a fitting, final track on their final album. A totally different vibe but SUCH BEAUTIFUL and profoundly touching lyrics by Neil.

I still remember the time Rush was playing a free concert, just 10 miles away from me. Nobody would give me a ride to go see them. It shall remain my greatest regret in life...

I Just found out Neil Peart died moments ago, and then found this video. Rush was one of the things that made it okay for me to be a little weird when I was a kid, and it's so wonderful to see this man's utter joy at what - even among the whitest of us white folks - is considered dreadfully uncool. Brazil went absolutely nuts over Rush. The crowd was so in to them and it was electric. I wish I'd been there!

Keep telling yourself, it's only 3 guys making all that music. Listening to RUSH is fantastic!! BUT seeing them live.....well that's how you really get to appreciate what fantastic musicians they really are!

We will never see their like again. Rush was the last of the epic bands. Three well-trained and expert musicians who were spot on together. Flawless. R.I.P. Neil Peart.

I saw them in 2012 and it was my best concert to date. They still KILLED SLAYED THEY DID ALL THE THINGS

My dad walked into our playroom as we were listening to the song and he said "That's YYZ". Our jaws dropped to the floor. How did he know? He explained it was Morse code. He was a radioman in the Coast Guard. Way to go dad!

The energy in this song is freaking crazy. There is no other band that could do this
