I learned to play this song on drums when I was 14. It took me forever listening to it over and over on a walkman back in 1984. Tech today, I could slow it down and pick up every note played and every cymbal hit. I would be so far ahead if I'd had the technology of today back in 1984. Love your videos and your reactions! Three guys who knew their craft. RIP, Neil Peart. Shaq, maybe others commented on this way back, but YYZ (here in the Great White North, Z is pronounced 'zed') is the call sign for Toronto's Pearson International Airport. And the intro to the song has the guitars banging out the letters "Y-Y-Z" over and over again, in Morse code. Just like their lyrics in their other songs, RUSH made you think about what you'd just heard, over and over again.

Let me enlighten your day with some fun facts, brother. YYZ, pronounced "why-why-zed", is the abbreviated identification code for the Toronto Pearson International Airport, which the band frequently travels through as it is near their hometown. Alex Lifeson brought the idea to the band after he heard the distinct rhythm of the letters YYZ being played in morse code, and they built this entire crunchy groove off of it. To quote Peart and Lee, "It's always a happy day when YYZ appears on our luggage tags". I think this song embodies that feeling of doing what they love, jamming out, traveling to far off places and blowing people's minds with their sound. Amazing stuff, huh? - . - - | - . - - | - - . .

Great reaction!! He needs to see Neil's drum solo from Frankfurt. 9 minutes of perfection and mind-blowing percussion. Best drum solo ever.

I wish I was a music nerd at their level, love them or hate em, they earned their keep for four decades. This particular album was flawless.
