I just read Geddy Lee's biography (he's the bassist), and it turns out that their management's fear of 'foreigners' probably had kept them touring in only North America and Europe, so they were totally blown away by how many fans they actually had in the Central- and South Americas! Too bad no one will read this comment, since the reaction was two years ago. But it's good to see more people get what Rush was all about!

I knew it was for all three events, Olympic Stadium in Porto Alegre , Estadio Morumbi in São Paulo, and Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. I just wasn't going to bitch about it.The 125k is for all 3 dates in the Brazil tour and the numbers are accurate and a matter of record. I too hate it when people like you, shoot your mouth off without knowing the facts. Get it right next time. Apology accepted, you are forgiven. cheers🇨🇦

You are a lucky man for seeing a Rush concert that long ago. My Rush story is going to a Rush concert in person. The only concert Ive been to where the entire audience evey one of us stood and partied the entire show and after untill they left the stage. I remember not wanting to leave to go take a wiz. I ran to the restroom and back minimizing the time I was out of the auditorium. Of course its not a play or something like that where missing it would be no big deal.....Rush was/IS a BIG deal. I went when The Sportatrium in Florida had them there. We drove from Homestead AFB way down south (now closed) up to the venue. What a trip! Pun intended. We got to see RUSH!

One of Rush's best qualities is their lyrics. Most of the lyrics are written by their incredible drummer, Neil Peart, R.I.P. Another of their best qualities is their motto... musicianship first! When you listen to Rush, put on the headphones, lie back, close your eyes, and the whole time you are listening to their music, just keep reminding yourself, that all of this incredible music, is coming from just three, incredibly talented, Canadian musicians. These boys make make me very proud to say, "I Am Canadian"

It's not just intended as a Morse Code. Old school aviation navigation uses radio transmitters at the airports and around them at certain distances. The marker actually transmits the Morse code of the airport call sign. Prior to the writing of the song, one or more (I don't recall) of the members were into flying and taking lessons and would listen to the marker signal when flying into the airport.

This from their live concert video in Rio de Janero in Brazil in 2003. The fans went nuts because this was the first time Rush had ever visited South America, where they have a huge fan base. YYZ is an instrumental from their album Moving Pictures 1981. YYZ is the airport code for Toronto's main airport, the city where the band is from.

Exit Stage left, for when they were young and the audio is great for 1981. Rio. for the crowd Frankfurt. for the great sound quality and the fantastic 2112 finale. Cleveland. Again the atmosphere and the crazy musicianship they still displayed in their older self version.

@@timflavin7090 I haven't forgotten John Rutsey. Rutsey definitely played his part in bringing the the three of them together. Rush wouldn't be Rush without Neil joining the band. We will never know what Rush would have been with Rutsey, but we know from interviews with Alex and Geddy that musically, they were not on the same page. Rutsey was influenced more by straight Rock, while Alex and Geddy were more influenced by progressive rock (Bad Company vs Yes) With all that said, Rush wouldn't have had any years without Rutsey, but without Neil, Rush wouldn't have made it through their first US tour. Anthem was written by Alex before Rutsey left the band and he just wasn't into being that active of a drummer. Rush is a great group, who are in the R&R Hall of Fame, so they have a bunch of incredible songs, almost all of which have lyrics. Great instrumental by them. You should definitely react to their huge hit "Tom Sawyer" or "The Spirit of Radio" next. You will NOT be disappointed.

I played guitar in a Rush tribute band back in 1982-83. High school back yard parties. Played YYZ, Hemispheres etc. good times.

I saw Rush in port Chester at the capital theatre 50 people in audience because of a blizzard. They opened for Blue Oyster Cult. This was I believe their first appearance ever in USA. I was lucky to hear them standing in front of stage & they were loud. God bless!!

RUSH are rock Gods. I saw them in concert twice and they were AMAZING musicians. Neil Peart is the greatest drummer EVER. He passed away from cancer recently, and the fandom was devastated. Alex Lifeson is the guitarist and Geddy Lee is the bass and keyboard player, and lead singer. ("Geddy" is really "Gary," but his mother had a very strong European accent, which sounded like "Geddy.") Their biggest hit is "Tom Sawyer," but there are so many that are great. "Spirit of Radio" and "Flight by Night" are "must listens." CHEERS!

No lyrics, yet 50,000+ fans "sang" along. This is the brilliance of Rush. If lyrics are your thing, the drummer, Neil Peart, is also the lyricist. RIP Neil.

The drummer Neil Peart wrote the lyrics which are very philosophical and thought provoking...very sad when he died early last year :(

I keep saying people need to check out his Frankfurt solo, or "Anatomy of a drum solo", but sadly, no one ever listens....

@@TheDivergentDrummer I actually really love his solo at the Buddy Rich memorial. Because he looks happy to be there. And Buddy's band, towards the end, are all smiles watching him do his thing. Frankfurt is the favorite though.

Also cool about this crowd: They’re actually singing along with the tones of the music. Their “whoas” track the melody of the song.

The bass player is Geddy Lee. I saw him once simultaneously tapping the bass with his left hand, playing the synth with his right hand, and playing the bass pedals with this feet. He’s a beast.

In one week I saw 3 legendary bands, U2, Grateful Dead, and Rush. Rush was by far the best show of the three.
