If you go back to 1:14, you will see a quick shot of foot pedals. And again at 4:31, shows the whole picture. When they play this live, Geddy Lee sings the vocals and plays bass. When a song has keyboards, he plays those as well. When he does, he plays the bass line with the foot pedals. Very talented musician. The drummer, Neil Peart, whose nickname is "the professor" is considered to be one of the greatest drummers ever. May he R.I.P.

Yes, it’s only three guys, Geddy Lee on bass, and keyboards, Alex Lifeson on guitar(s), and Neil “The Professor” Peart on drums and percussion. Sadly, Peart died 3 years ago this month at age of 67 from a brain tumor. He was also the principal lyricist of the band. Rush is considered one of the premier progressive rock bands of all time. If you really want to see some of their most amazing, complex pieces, check out “La Villa Strangiato“ from their album, “Hemispheres.”

They have the unique ability to play with great musicianship, yet package it in a way where it's accessible to the masses. Another amazing thing about Rush is their deep thought-provoking lyrics. Rush in my opinion, Greatest band ever. Technically great and imaginative beyond thier years. At the time not many bands could hold a candle to them. Alot of fans also didn't quite understand alot of it either. Girls couldn't relate nothing they could consistently dance to, because of the constant time changes. They have 4 or 5 different stages of the band. Early 70's Prog Rock 80's more keyboards were brought in. 90's they found a perfect blend of keyboards and guitar. The 2000's thier final drive of just pure hard rock.

Rush, like Steely D., is an iconic band with a rich and long history. Their music has evolved over the years with a catalogue that ranges from epic concept tunes to more radio friendly tunes. Some of their early work is fairly experimental and can drift a little, but they honed their musical approach and became one of the premier pioneers of progressive rock. My choices for just a couple of essential reactions would be 2112, Xanadu, Natural Science, The Spirit of Radio, Freewill, Red Barchetta, Where's my Thing...so many more gems. Great Rxn!

I saved all my concert tickets from the late 70s on, and for this Rush concert on Sep 14, 1980, I paid $9.50 general admission at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium. Quite a small venue (less than 10,000 capacity) but the sound was loud and clear! Event t-shirts ran $15-25 depending on the type.

One of Rush's most popular songs is "Spirit of Radio". You really need to see them perform the song live onstage in Toronto in 2003 in front of 500,000 fans on a sunny summer afternoon. They start the song with a quick instrumental version of "Paint It Black" in tribute to the Rolling Stones and then it segues into a blistering version of "Spirit of Radio". It's one of the greatest live performances I've ever seen from any band.

Gede Lee plays both keyboards and Bass, along with lead vocals. I think just for the video, they show him playing both at different times, because they want to convey that Gede plays both instruments in the Band. In the recording studio, he can play both instruments playing on different tacks, and then they are blended together. Also, remember "The Doors," didn't have a Bass player, because like with Rush, the keyboards have Bass pedals on the floor, so you can play Bass with your foot. Gede is one of the best Bassists in the world. Watch more Rush videos, and you can see for yourself. Thanks

This band is seriously beyond words. Many of those commenting have tried valiantly, but I am sure they will all say their words are not adequate. Too much talent going on here, needs to be heard, can’t bd explained.

As a drummer and timekeeper, it’s satisfying to watch a reaction video of progressive rock and the dudes reacting are bopping their heads on beat. My OCD gets triggers when the head bop is off - good job fellas and go Brew Crew!

Rush started in 1968, but their main line-up until Peart's death in 2020 came together in 1974. Tom Sawyer is from their 1981 album Moving Pictures.

Rush is onlt three guys. The other guy you see playing the bass and the guy singing and the guy on the keyboards is all Geddy Lee. This is from their studio session, where they can play each track individually. Take it from a person who has xeen them lve 36 times starting in 1979, until they retiredaround 2016, they can perform this live with omly three guys. Geddy plays bass while singing, somtimes playing the keyboards with his feet on the Taurus pedals seen here in this video. He doesn’t play bass, but shreds the bass like few other bassists and all while singing and playing keyboards with his toes. It was amazing to see them live. Alex, the guitarist also plays keyboard samples with his feet while live. Neil Peart, who sadly passed away in 2020, also triggered synth samples with electronic drum pads, not seen here. It was a few years after this album and more around the time of Grace Under Pressure or Signals, that he added a complete electronic drum set behind his massive acoiustic drum set. During his solo, he would switch from the electronic to the acoustic by having the entire drum riser spin around as he changed sets. You canm find his drum solos on KZread. Look for his solo in Frankfurt, Germany. It is one of his most famous and recent solos. His solos are the stuff of legend. SInce 50% or more of the sudience were drummers and the rest just air drummers, the crowd would go nuts when his solo began. I am a guitarist, but when Neil was playing, I was just another air drummer. There is just something about his fills thagt makes your hands go, without even thinking about it. I bet if you played some Peart stuff in a retirement home, you see 80 year old grandmas air drumming to his most famous fills. Especially the one from Temple Of Syrnx. I think that even a corpse would automatically air drum that first fill? This is a dangerous rabbit hole of you have begin. It you dare to enter, you will encounter over 40 years of some of the most complex and epic rock songs you've ever heard. 2112, one entire side of the album follows one story, seamlessly moving from one movement to the next. It’s very unique, to say the least.
