Funny how you picked a line from a movie as in truth it's not a quote he was attributed for but no less meaningful. For me it was a line in a song.....I was so concerned with saving life, I never saw you pull the knife....hope life treating you well 7years after your comment!

not true, true wisdome you can get from others when you find those people, unfortunately the wisdome will not come from catchy phrases. It will be in normal words and packed with energy. Most wisdome we have to build ourselves or get from history. Cause there are so few humans that have any wisdome to give to us that we do not already have ourselves. I think problem is we do not use the wisdome we have and need others to awake us.

well the problem is to listen and break out of your mold. I guess 99% of humans do not act when they hear wisdome. I never do, I wish I had a better brain that will build me a better life. All I do is know a lot but never act.

This movie capture the essence of Formula One. Why the drivers do it, and why us fans love it. It captured the pure passion of competition we all share in the sport. As much as it's a tribute to these two drivers it is equally a tribute to all those who have lived and died behind the wheel in the pinnacle of motor sport.

He literally gives up the title in Japan because he doesn't want to take unnecessary risks, as it's not worth it. That whole "pure passion of competition" argument is BS now and in the past. Also it's quite hilarious to complain about money in F1 as Lauda literally bought his first seat in the sport (showed in the movie as well).

The beauty of this entire scene is that the historical footage of the real-life racers tells the story better than the fictional narrative. Watch 1:24 (Hunt ) vs. 1:40 (Lauda) and appreciate the difference in how they viewed the importance of that moment. Such a great way to show how Lauda considered victory the true "enemy" because it exposed him to the loss of the equilibrium of his ambition, while Hunt welcomed victory as the ultimate goal--a triumph that he did not care to walk away from because it had given him all he ever wanted. I've never seen a movie so wonderfully contrast real-life people.

Daniel Bruhl's portrayal of Lauda is nothing short of phenomenal. His accent, way of talking, overbite, expressions, mannerisms, attitude, everything is so spot on. Also the words they exchange before the speech here in the hangar are great too. Actually respecting and listening to each other despite being two very different sorts of people coming to a subject with very different dispositions, and both gaining something from it. I think we need more of that in today's world.

I think both ended up sinking down low because their prides failed them. Sure, they were champions but realizing that there is more to life than just being number 1. Yes, people can share compassion and not get too stuck on being a legalist but...then, again, there is nothing wrong standing on your grounds and not willing to devour yourself in festivities that only gets you no where. If Nick Landa has a balance of both, only just being with his wife...he would have been fine. If Hemsworth's character only had a woman in his life and devoted his life to her...he could still be having a blast but with a woman on his side, instead of wasting his life with many. ...I think this movie has shown me a lot on how I should live. In my view, they both had reasons but you see why they both, well, didn't do so well at the end of their lives. This ending just speaks for itself.

i always thought that was a wonderful end to the film, a film about one of the greatest rivalries in motorsport history, perhaps any sport. From an age where is was about the drivers skill as much as the machine under him. When you didn't have 23 people to change your tyres in 3 seconds and when you had to change year using a lever not a computer. A time when these drivers were gods of speed and bravery. Men to be admired and looked up to. Not these boys giving weak excuses and towing the corporate BS lines they are told to at present. no manufactured drama. Real danger and real racing. I miss it and this film tells that story with quite a lot of the real events (according to Niki). Then at the end this wonderful piece from niki as a tribute to a great but flawed man that loved the fun of life more than winning cups and races. Speaks volumes and always brings a lump to my throat to watch this clip.

Both had very different views in life. Their views compared and contrasted with each other. In the end, their views on life were extraordinarily good in meaning. James was to live life in the moment because you never know when it will end while Niki's was to make life more about than rushing through to live in the moment. Their rivalry was truly one of its own and both are still legends to this very day.

This movie has been my favourite movie since it came out and still is. I think the reason it is so good is that the movie doesn't persuade you to pick a driver. It's up to you. That final race you are either wanting James to finish out of the top 3 or in it. My first time watching this movie I supported James, but after watching it 5+ times, I still find myself on edge even though I know the final outcome. I watched it again today and found myself wanting James to not succeed. It truly is an amazing movie

Its The best Movie Endings i've ever seen. And it is the Truth. Niki Lauda is a Legend. Maybe he is sometimes really tough and direct BUT to loose a Friend and Sportsman like James Hunt,Ronnie Petterson or Jochen Rindt is a hard Hit in your Soul. Its The Best Movie about Racing ever. I am One of The greatest Fans from The Formula 1 as Niki was a active Driver. All That Driver was like Knights and Gentlemans in One Person. I am from Germany and my English is some Rusty but i Hope You can understand it. Thanks for Upload this Epic Scene is in this Brillant Movie.

Of course he didn't listen to me. For James, one world title was enough. He had proved what he needed to prove. To himself and anyone who doubted him. And two years later, he retired. When I saw him next in London, seven years later, me as a champion again, him as broadcaster, he was barefoot on a bicycle with a flat tire, still living each day like his last. When I heard he died age 45 of a heart attack, I wasn't surprised. I was just sad. People always think of us as rivals but he was among the very few I liked and even fewer that I respected. He remains the only person I envied.

I have watched this movie today in school. It’s the greatest movie about formula 1 disasters in history. And the end, just like in „Titanic“, in MY opinion, could not be made better.
