It should be noted, this was 2011, the song came out in 1979. The boys were in their late 50s, and this was the encore after 2 and a half hours of playing. That, alone speaks volumes.

Yes, three geniuses in one band. Alex's solo always gives me goosebumps! This song is about a series of nightmares that Alex Lifeson had especially when they were on the road touring. The polka part at the beginning was a bit of fun. If you listen to the studio version or watch the official video of this song Alex does this beautiful shreddin intro on a classical on the studio album and on an electric guitar in the video. Great reaction! ❤❤

Rush is one of the greatest bands to ever exist because they truly enjoy, care, love, and appreciate what they do, what they create, and who they play for…their fans!!! Loyalty is what Rush fans stand for and great talent & music is what they admire/appreciate/love…✌️😎🎤🥁🔥

The little "polka" intro was not part of the original song. It was just them and their goofy sense of humor.. This is my favorite video of them in concert, They're just so relaxed and having so much fun. The guitar solo is one of the most beautiful in all of rock, but tragically most "rock fans" have never heard it.

Another instrumental only tune you must listen to is "YYZ". And it was inspired because the Toronto Airport call sign is YYZ , and the rest is history. Another legendary song from this talented band. The best to ever play on this planet in my opinion.

RUSH is THE PERFECT EXAMPLE of the fluidity of MASTERING TIME SIGNATURES! I play drums and there are a few things that you need to know about Neil Peart’s ( pronounced PEER-T) character: First he writes the lyrics so he knows in advance what TYPE of song it’s meant to be ie ballad, driver, etc. Second he COMPOSES on the drums… like a carpenter who looks at a set of blueprints before building the object. Neil lays out a SKETCH in his mind of the VOICES of the drumset and builds the song from there. He is also a great LISTENER knowing when NOT to step over Geddy’s singing or Alex’s solos! Finally, he had perfect timing and fluidity of time changes. He said himself that it’s not about COUNTING the time signatures as much as fluid motion to change the tempo without counting: in other words it should FLOW! He hates repeating the same drum patterns in the same song meaning if he plays a fill one way the first time around he will play it differently the second time around. IE. Rolls down the toms the first time around and triplets or quads (all four limbs) the second time around. In short there will NEVER be another like him on planet earth 🌍 🌏 🌎! REST IN PEACE PROFESSOR! With heart felt admiration and sincerity! Gary

Thank you! I think an important difference regarding Rush wasn't the fact that all three are musical geniuses. There were many such bands (Cream, Jimmy Hendrix Experience, The Police, ELP). The hard part is being a genius and allowing room for growth with other geniuses. A main reason Rush is a favorite of mine is because all three guys are kind of normal, respectful, humble and self-deprecating, thoughtful, and simply cool. If you look at their early family history and how all bands started back in those days, all three just wanted to play music for a living. A known American comment related to Canadian's is very often, "They are so nice and polite..." These guys fit the profile.

So many rock bands have serious expressions on their faces during their performances....not so Rush. They really chose the right name because that's exactly what you get when you see them. 3 guys having fun at what they were born to do. This energy exchanges between them and the audience. They take their art form very seriously but they don't take themselves too seriously.

I love your Rush reactions! In their early days, Rush often put "studio only" songs on their albums - songs that were incredibly complex and difficult to do live, or that they thought would not hold an audiences interest. I remember them talking about it in interviews when the "Moving Pictures" album came out, referring to "Witch Hunt", and they also mentioned "La Villa Strangiato". Thank goodness, they figured out ways to occasionally perform it live, and it always was appreciated by Rush fans.

@antoniocarlin5026 Beg to differ. Rush bridged the gap between hard rock, English progressive rock, and pure heavy metal. They took prog rock techniques and blended in blues-based power chords. From those roots, everyone from Queenryche to Dream Theater to LTE on outward to thrash metal, black metal, and more. The family tree of all of them comes back through Rush. The adage is, even if Rush isn't your favourite group, it's your favourite group's favourite group.
