I'm 66. Yes, you read that right. I remember getting "All the World's a Stage" on 8-track, when it came out. When I heard the guitar echo on "Anthem", I was hooked. For me Alex with the different sounds and chords he came up with was the reason I became a Rush fan. The different spacey chords of Jacob's Ladder is another perfect example. Alex never got enough credit for the success of this band, IMO.

My personal favorite and masterpiece of all their work that demanded that I be a devoted RUSH fan for the rest of my life was the opening intro of 2112. Every true and dedicated RUSH fan "KNOWS" exactly where they were at - and who they were with the first time they ever heard the beginning opening of 2112. I guarantee it!!! Long live RUSH! Driving home from college years ago, there was a line of awesome thunderheads across the sky ahead. Lightning in the clouds made them glow one at a time, and I realized why they are called thunderheads: they looked like a line of huge purple, carved busts. I realized I had Permanent Waves in the car, and blasted Jacob's Ladder while I drove through the storm. It is still one of my favourite songs.

I love this version of the song... For the most part I really prefer them to follow the studio version note for note, but Neil comes out of the slow section in an odd time signature that sounds so badass, and then goes back to playing things generally note for note. So tight, really wonderful composition by all three...

Rush's best song. Been listening to it since 1980 and it still bewitches me. Unfortunately they never visited Norway as far I can remember but yet one of the greates band to. Part of the soundtrack of my life sinve early 80s.

I wish I knew Rush back in 2015 when they came to my hometown arena in newark nj. I could’ve experienced this up close!

A great live Rush performance as usual, but this video is not quite synched up with the sound - watch the chords Alex Lifeson plays in the beginning of the song, starting at around 2:25.
