The counter-tenors when this recording was made were Barnaby Smith (Musical Director) and Chris Wardle. Chris left some years ago and was replaced by Katie Jeffries-Harries. This was the last appearance of Emily Dickens, who sung the Soprano solo, with the group. She was replaced by Eleonore Cockerham, who was replaced, in turn, by Molly Noon who has now left the group herself.

John Fenton, you beat me to it! When looking and listening to Voces 8 the date of he recording changes things a lot. From their organization, the group had 6 men and 2 women. Katie Jefferies-Harris joined the group in 20018 as the first alto. To me, the amazing thing, is that the Voces 8 sound has stayed so constant. Jeff, if you think back to your reaction to the Bach duet with Katie Jefferies-Harris and Barnaby Smith, Barnaby has always been the second alto in Voces 8. 2018 marks their transition to a 5 men and 3 women group. I requested this piece because I love it, and it gives anyone watching it to have a starting point for the group we hear today. Molly Noon, who was the second soprano has left the group. Eleonore Cockerham, who was the second soprano before Molly Noon, has filled in until a new second soprano is found. Audition for that position may still be open. The Voces 8 web site will have information.

I noticed the group configuration as well as Sarah pointed out. 6 guys, 2 gals. I also was interested in their position in relation to the mics. I wish I knew where the mics were placed. It was interesting to see them move their heads away from the front as they got softer. Great matching timbre with each pair of voices. Very smooth. Beautiful and delicate song.

I love sharing music I love with others but live alone and don't get much chance to do that anymore. I worked in bar bands for 35 years after college and am now retired. It's more fun to listen to the same things I like with you than not. You've shown me some groups I didn't know and I will eventually send you some requests of my own.
