Admit it. When you were young, you've dreamed to be as badass as Kenshin. Holding a stick like it's a real samurai and acting like you were the greatest swordsman who ever lived.

Takeru Satoh, the actor who plays Kenshin, had a blog/journal when they were still shooting the first movies and I would read it religiously. He said he had only 3 months to prepare for the role including extensive sword training. The schedule was rigorous and he said there wasn't a muscle or joint in his body that didn't hurt or ache daily. He nearly killed himself doing the stunts. He also had a few close calls. That scene in the second movie where he's running on top of a house is real and done on a real house and without safety ropes. He nearly fell. He also mentioned in a journal that he was constantly eating and hungry just to keep up with the amount of intensive stunt and training he had to do. When the cast went together for dinner, while everyone was finished with their meal, Takeru was still eating. The guy who plays Kanryu Takeda was like "You're still ordering?!" They kind of teased him about it. In an interview with the actor who plays Shisio, he kept telling Takeru to take it easy because he saw how much work he was putting and he didn't want Takeru to strain himself.

I think a good part of why this is so awesome is that most of the acrobatics look like "necessary" fight moves. Not just is the execution phantastic, but they make it look like an actual (albeit a very elaborate one) fight. That's so difficult to make and requires exceptional control.

I don't really know what tf happened to the original anime because it kinda got forgotten over the years. I just wish a good studio will step up to remake the original Rurouni Kenshin anime and finish the manga because to my knowledge the remaining arcs weren't animated. This anime is a classic but is not that known by the new generation so remaking it would be a great opportunity to bring this anime back to life into the modern era and if that happens I hope Takeru Satoh and the rest of the live action cast will voice the characters they portrayed.

The STORY, the fantastic SWORD fights, the HERO who has ethics and moral for greater good, who is silent and caring yet ruthless to his enemies - just bloody good! No other movies match these masterpiece of 5 movies: 1. Rurouni Kenshin, 2. Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno, 3. Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends, 4. Rurouni Kenshin: The Final, and 5. Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning I don't think there will ever be another more better fight sequences, story line, and heroic characters - but I may be wrong - lets wait and see :)

These clips include the most intense, beautifully choreographed live action swordplay I've ever seen. These actors/stunt persons are masters of their 'combined' crafts (acting - which is no easy undertaking by itself, stunt work and weapon(s) specialization after several years of their chosen martial arts training). It's always a pleasure, and interesting watch as, in every fight sequence in this series title, these master craftsmen move faster than the recording frame rate, usually 24-30 frames PER SECOND. Truly incredible to view and, in my opinion, very high review value. Kudos and cheers!

The Beginning, streaming now on Netflix is the best! Lots of insane bloody fighting but the love story is the heart of it. It's amazing how the love scene between Kenshin and Tomoe was highlighted with only one kiss and yet you feel their strong connection with one another. It's so sweet and touching. In U.S. movies, the love scenes will be lots of sex scenes. I know Tomoe will die having watched the other Rurouni Kenshin movies, but still, it's heartbreakingly sad.

Everything about this series is awesome. And I’m no anime fan, yet. My fave by far was Jin e, his back turn stab on Battosai made my eyes open and jaw drop when I saw it. All characters in all movies were casted brilliantly, the actors all became the roles so well. Enishi’s emotional journey in the final was excellent, Saito grew on me with every movie, I could go on for ages. From Kaoru’s benevolence to Aoshi’s inner demons, and of course, Seijuro XIII mastery and wisdom. I was disappointed that it portrayed the shogunate in this way, as in real life the Jesuits and the black ships brought nothing but evil to the land of the Rising Sun, installing Puppet Meiji. But alas, the perfect samurai series, and will never be beaten. Ken shin acted perfectly in every scene, in every movie. God bless..
