Seems pretty practical to me. You know what they saw though: "Never trust Mushashi when death is on the line". 😁

A modern physician read Musashi's personal journal, containing gripes about his aches and pains and complaints about his overall health, which was diagnosed as pituitary cancer. That explains descriptions of Musashi standing significantly taller than his peers

Musashi, by Eiji Yoshikawa was a required reading (amongst other works) once anyone obtain 1st Dan by Grand Master Daeshik Kim. I had the utmost honor of training under him in the late 70s and early 80s. I had mentioned that many of Musashi's actions were less than honorable. Grand Master Kim countered that honor is reserved for training, and survival takes whatever is required.

Was well ahead of his time to use mindgames that have become common practice in todays modern combat sport !! For this although it goes against the bushido is like any other evolutionary process that takes things forward . It may not be fair but like everything else in life its just buisness ! And in order for a buisness to survive it has to continually move forward often in ways tgat are not deemed ethical or fair .

And where is the 'hidden' part in these well known facts/stories? I couldn't find anything more than what is already known (which is anyway more than what is presented here).

He was a Ronin. Not a Samurai.

To be a ronin one must be a samurai sworn to a Lord for a period of time. Musashi was briefly sworn.
