Actually, Run in Background only works with iOS and iPadOS at the moment. The option is not available on M1 Macs, so you'll just have to keep MixEffect's window visible somewhere on your displays. You can still be in other applications.

Your app is so good! I use it solely for SuperSource builds for elaborate shows on the 8k constellation … I would love love love the ability to add favorite pages in SuperSource …. Meaning I can have multiple options of favorites that way I can build tabs of show looks for a segment … currently I’m doing it with ABC ordering but would love multiple pages :) your the best!!

You can add tags to your presets and use the Find Presets button to filter your presets by projects. When in List mode, you can multi-select and add tags in bulk, or you can edit each preset individual to add tags. When using list mode, MixEffect will automatically add # in front of the tag name.

Fantastic! Question -- you mention around 22 minutes about new info for Recordings that show time recorded, remaining and *errors*. I've always wished BMD would log errors to stream and records to help figure out why things stop abnormally sometimes... are you saying that you've found a way to tap deeper into the internal ATEM "conversation" to see more error info??

It's more errors that prevent a recording from happening (i.e. disk full, disk unformatted, etc.).

Amazing work thank you! Have you considered using NDI to send the multi view and or program output back to the iPad? Then you could alter the output (thinking of output 2) automatically depending on the page of MixEffect…

It's something that I've thought about adding, but I haven't had the time (and I've have to learn the whole NDI SDK). Perhaps in the future, but no immediate plans at the moment.

Not seeing the multi view or run in background features. Is there a cutoff for specific iOS devices that will enable these? I have my pro license and automatic updates are enabled.

Great app. We want to move away from the computer being our interface to the aten. I do have some questions Can you use multiple pads to control one atem? Could you hardwire through the lighting port?

Yes, multiple iPads can control a single ATEM at a time. ATEMs generally can have 5 controllers connected to them (i.e. ATEM Software Control, MixEffect, Companion, etc.) With Lightning to USB and USB to Ethernet, you can direct connect to an ATEM. Search my channel for a video on that very topic. Or, you can have iPad on Ethernet to the same network as the ATEM. That's probably what I would recommend over direct connection, but direct connection would be more reliable since there's no router or switch in between.

Regarding multiview switcher will be nice to add live video output for example using HDMI grabber to iOS from Acssoon SeeMo (they have open SDK) and then possibility to change to layout order and what is on inputs mapping keys

You can change the layout order if your switcher supports it. Go to Switcher Settings > Multiview. Will look into the HDMI grabber SDK but no guarantees I’ll incorporate it into the app at the moment.

On my iphone12 the multiview are all black，there's no image or live views at all，is there any more settings that I should make？

If the ATEM switcher supports borders, MixEffect will expose (not disable) those controls. Unfortunately, only the higher end ATEMs support SSRC borders, such as the 2 M/E Production Studio 4K, 4 M/E Broadcast Studio 4K, and the Constellation 8K. You can use Art Foreground or background to simulate borders or use up to two of the four SSRC boxes to simulate borders (set to Color) and behind the other boxes.

Do you think that it is possible to use BMD Shuttle HD or CloudPod with ATEM MINI EXTREME ISO and double usb c SDD recorder to have instant replay feature in MixEffect?

I'd post your question to people who are more knowledgeable about the HyperDeck. You can't easily access the recordings from the USB SSD drive, and if you're playing back from the HyperDeck Shuttle, you're not recording to it.

I just bought a ATEM Constellations 2ME can I use Mixeffect on Apple - 10.2-Inch iPad without internet to control the Atem? And can the Multiview switcher wrk without internet?

Yes, follow the instructions in this video to directly connect to the switcher. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mnt1o8mSms_MZMo.html You can't use the Multiview Switcher Overlay without the internet, but you can use the regular Multiview Switcher panel without internet with MixEffect 1.7.0. Make sure you upgrade to iPadOS 16.1 tomorrow, as it is only supported on iOS 16 and iPadOS 16.1 and higher.

SuperSource Art Background set to one of your inputs that is playing a looping video. Input could be a computer, iPhone/iPad running VLC via HDMI adapter or AppleTV, HyperDeck, etc.

Adam, this is a great update. Thank you. Do you know what would be amazing (at least for me)? Now that you can see the file names in the ssd, to have the option of double clicking and opening that video, that way we don’t have to unplug the ssd from aten and connect it to the computer. This is particularly useful when running short tests prior to long recordings. Do you think something like that would be possible ?

There are several FTP clients available on iOS that you can use to connect to the USB drive off the ATEM. Although it's an interesting idea, I don't think I'll be incorporate this into MixEffect.

Hi Adam, I tried running multiview on my Iphone but all sources were black, does it only work on the Ipad ? I want to be able to see my input camera sources live. Thank you.

You need to use the Remote Webview panel, but it really only works on iPad due to it requiring landscape orientation (you could do it by rotating your iPhone screen, but it's not as nice). If you want images in your source boxes, you can use the Source Images feature. Read this section in the docs for more details: docs.mixeffect.app/configure/switcher-pages/panels-and-buttons/multiview-switcher

The run in BG, is a little confusing. You had ME running on 2 devices, it was still on your iphone in the foreground.

In my video, I showed it running in the background on the iPad. I had the phone screen up so you could see what happened when I did something on the ATEM (to show that it also updates on the iPad without disconnecting). I'll have more videos to show how it works in the future.

Hi Adam, I updated to 16.1.1 and I don't see a Multiview Switcher option in the sidebar. Just New Page, Edit this Page & Default. What am I missing? Thank you!

Not at the moment. May look into other means to get this done in the future with iOS 17 and UVC webcam support.

I am a subscriber and I am an owner of your MixEffect app. I had an old iPad and just purchased the 12.9" M2 pro. MixEffect worked perfectly on my old iPad, but with this new iPad I can not connect to the Atem switcher. I verified everything is on the same network. My desktop connects with no problem and my Adroid device also connects. The IP in the settings is correct. Any idea what's going on?

Can you make sure in iPad Settings app > MixEffect that Local Network is toggled on? An alert appears when you first install MixEffect, and it's possible you might have clicked Cancel or Don't Allow. If that doesn't work, make sure you don't have more than 5 controllers trying to connect to your ATEM. The sixth won't be able to connect.

@@AdamTow that’s it Adam. I clicked on help, but must have missed this. I guess all settings don’t move over to the new iPad. All my switcher layouts are there, but they are all the same and not anything I created. The transfer didn’t go well in that respect.

@@TonyLiveTV MixEffect Settings won't transfer over, but your Switcher Connections, Supersource Presets, Streaming Settings, should all transfer (given some time).

Hey Adam. I updated Mixeffect to 1.7 on my M1 iPad Pro 12.9. I tried the Reset Layout button, but the Run In Background feature is not appearing in the list on the left side, under Settings.

MixEffect works on Macs running Apple Silicon processors. You can find it on the Mac App Store.

Read up on the capabilities of the Multiview Switcher panel and the Remote Webview feature in the docs: docs.mixeffect.app/configure/remote-webview docs.mixeffect.app/configure/switcher-pages/panels-and-buttons/remote-webview What you are looking for is to use the Remote Webview panel along with the Multiview overlay. There’s some setup to get it working to display real-time video. Otherwise you can add static images to the MV Switcher panel.
