I liked how RUN DMC adapted to the New Jack Swing sound of 1990. They couldn't have lasted making "King of Rock" type records over and over again.

Totally. With Back From Hell you can hear they wanted to stay relevant with more Hardcore/Gangsta styles too emerging at the time, particularly from the West Coast but not so much on Faces. Hip Hop still evolves (somehow?) but not as fast as it was in 1990.

I actually disagree. I think the reason they didn't last is because they kept trying to chase the latest trend. They should've stuck with with what made them great--- hard beats with loud guitars.

Run-DMC was trashed in 1990 for this, but they fit the era perfectly. Run, D, Jay, thank you for reinventing yourselves. :)

this was the end of RUn DMC - I was so gutted when i heard this, i saw them live in 1988 when i was 12, so don't nobody on here be saying i don't no shit -Musically its a cool track, and i know bands/crews evolve, but I never wanted to hear Run DMC doing this - such a shame

Not really. It's new jack swing, it's a hybrid of hip hop and R&B. The beat evolved from swingbeat rap music from the late 80s.
