I've been close to purchasing Run8 in the past, but wasn't sure where it was going, if anywhere. Now we know, I think I'll be jumping in. Keep the Run8 vids coming. 👍😊

I remember accidentally discovering run 8 maybe 6-7 years ago, when they only had the cajon pass routes and Barstow sub, with only es44dc/ac engines. This program has come a LONG way since then.

I’ve seen someone on a livestream overheat one of the trailing locomotives as they were going through a tunnel, and it started to cool down when they got out of the tunnel, so I wonder if the tunnel motors rectify that problem like they did in real life. Prototypically though, only three companies would use them, and two of those companies no longer exist. Also, you can hear and “feel” the SD40-2s switching between series and parallel circuits when you go above and below 20mph

Nice review of the what's included. The community gets asked all the time what DLC to prioritize. Cajon Pass is a must-have. After that, its whatever trips your trigger. BTW: That error you're seeing is a split switch. Happens a lot to new players in the yards with manual switches.

The way I see it, because I like doing locals so I can eventually build trains that I can then take across Mojave or Needles, I prioritize getting important and relevant rolling stock DLC out of the way as well as the SD40-2 DLC because they suit doing locals and switching much better than GEVOs and SD70ACes. I’d like to get the Southeast routes given that I’m from Alabama, but I really want to get SoCal out of the way first because it’s full of iconic routes that can all play into each other with the industries and train symbols. Plus, Cajon has West Colton which is a big deal for Union Pacific, and it’s also the gateway to Los Angeles with the San Bernardino and Alhambra subs (which are both included in the San Bernardino route DLC). I’d save the Seligman and Bakersfield routes for last with the Southwest region. It would be nice if they added the UP Yuma, Cima, or Fresno sub eventually though.

Man I gotta pick this up. As a real world railroader the realism definitely appeals to me, recreates those days at work when you have an air hose come disconnected 8,000 feet back down the train and you gotta go for a walk. I also like that you can drive the track unit, that's pretty neat. The only thing that'll take some getting used to is the American nomenclature, as in Canada we call dispatchers RTCs, EOTs are SBUs, and so on.

Ah itd be right in your wheelhouse then. There are some, i wana say hinted "regions" in v3, whatever that means, maybe Can & Mex? Again im not certain on the regional thing. It is very in depth, ive chosen to "cheat" or quickstart systems so far but i plan to do some more realistic stuff as far as walking the train, setting up dpus and contacting dispatch for clearance etc. Thanks for having a look!

Graphics look great but it appears that they have some of ocean going containers as 53ft., which is correct for the domestics but the ocean cans should only be 20ft. , 40ft. , or 45ft.. The Evergreen, Hanjin, Maersk, China Shipping, Hyundai, K-Line, etc. look goofy to me in 53ft. lengths since I am a shipping container aficionado. For such attention to detail in terms of accuracy to the real world, this is a huge oversight by the developers in my opinion. I'll probably still get the game though. Thanks for the vids. 👍🏻

I believe theres some menu where you can swap horns (and maybe bells) out almost on the fly so everything doesnt sound the same. (Also notice how oddly similar the Run8 ES44 looks compared to the old Kuju model, almost like it was ripped)

@@schnauzahpowahz True. I just wish Dovetail Games actually took the time to work on their content. I understand that making content like Train Simulator XXXX takes a hefty amount of time and trying to recreate the world's locomotives and rollingstock to historically accurate and authentic quality is not easy, but they have months and years to do that kind of stuff. It literally takes third party content creators to pitch in and create something authentic for them which is just sad. I don't blame Matt personally, but I feel the entire company can do more. My expectations are slightly high since the quality of many of their locos are just pure garbage, but they do come out with some decent stuff here and there. but even then, most of the "decent stuff" is mostly just the rollingstock.

I really like what Run 8 added in V3. I had hoped that V3 addressed the look of the vegetation and trees. It looks like cardboard cutouts. It takes away from the emersion for me. That being said, this is a great Train Simulator.

As someone who's played Run8 since v1, those cardboard type areas actually look pretty good from the cab POV. (After all, it's about driving the trains not flying around everywhere.) in V2 they added some extra buildings and such in foreground areas plus night lighting. (LA is pretty good.) They've always prioritized running realism over the eye-candy scenery.

I really hate those wells. Its so weird how they took the domestic containers (evergreen, Hanjin, China Shipping etc) and gave them 53' containers. Domestic intermodal only goes up to 40' so why make them 53'? And then the Schneider and JBhunt 40' containers don't exist either. they only run 53'. Luckily run8 has 2 wellcar addon packs with proper containers.
