I am so glad that the late Leo McKern devoted a significant amount of his time after acting in the Rumpole series to reading these recordings. When listening I am immediately transported back to the series and can clearly see, through his voice effects, its various characters. He was Rumpole.

I think John Mortimer wrote many of the later stories to suit his interpretation of the character - so you're quite right, I suspect!

I love the Rumpole stories, be it tv series or audio stories. Thank you for sharing.

I love these audiobooks, so much better (in My opinion) to the tv-series - because whenever I hear them I’m reminded of the twinkling-eyed straight-faced comments about ‘She who must be obeyed’, etc so often made by My Great-Uncles and My Grandfather re their own Wives. 😂😂😂 I hadn’t actually read or heard the books until after Their deaths, so hearing these stories gives Me great-pleasure! Thank-You for uploading!!!

Leo mckern was a superb actor,brilliantly delivery of a " olde Bailey hack".

PBS had done an engrossing series. I don't know why but I do love Rumpole lol

Read the books in the 80s and loved them…..to have Leo read them for me now is the icing on the cake
