I know others have played the role in various radio plays and book readings, but to me Leo McKern is the "true" Rumpole. Thoroughly enjoying these. The great thing is they are kind of timeless. I was just a kid when Leo's Rumpole was first screened decades ago, yet listening now they come across as being current.

I’m actually trying to figure out why that bothers you so much. If it was bad sound recording or unintelligible dialogue, I could understand it.
