    Amazing video! Two questions though: are there any specific limitations on drones with cameras? Also, obviously i'm not saying that I will do this, but how much trouble could I get in if I flew a drone under age?

    Thanks for rounding up info that is indeed quite spread about. I am preparing to visit Norway from the USA, and have been studying the UAS rules and regulations for a while. The one that is most perplexing is having to obtain permission from the landowner before taking off. This rule seems impractical to say the least!

    I’m not sure what rule you are referring to here. You dont need to obtain permission from a landowner. There are regulated zones were permission from the municipality is necesarry. However thats mostly national parks and animal reservers. Apart from that you will mostly take of from roads or public areas anyways. While we have property like in the US i dont think its an issue to take of from somewhere «private».

    @SevernayaCl: Your information is correct. The process to apply is straightforward. I got my permission within a day or two. But be aware, you have (!) to submit any video material that you want to put on the internet before(!) publishing it. And feedback may take weeks. They take national security very serious up there because of their naughty neighbour. What struck me is that you are not even allowed to fly indoors when in a military nofly-zone. My local friends pointed that out to me, when I wanted to take a group photo of us in a sports-hall in Bøde. They said that was a way to ask for instant trouble.

    @@maikelmolto8986 What "permission" are you referring to? - The submitting of video sounds highly unlikely and i have never heard of such a thing. I believe you are misinformed. Can you give me a source for this? I have sent and enquiry to the CAA for clarification on property laws and content verification. - We are not more strict that any other Scandinavian country but the rules we have we expect you to follow. - I have also asked if you can fly indoors. Cheers.

    @@andrearoach7912 as far as i am aware there are no issues when entering with drones to Norway unless you are from Russia or Belarus. Drones are pretty common so as long as your intent is to photograph nature it should not be an issue.

    You do not need a user at safetofly. Thats a public map that covers airspace in Norway. When you get on the site you press the "manage layers" icon on the right side - fourth icon from the top. Then you check box nr 3. Forbudsområder (Same as nr 4. just for drones specifically. Not sure) 4.Prohibited areas 5. Prisons 7. Luftfartshinder (Its just a warning of obsticals you need to watch for.) 8.Fly- og helikopterplasser. (Small Airports and Helicopter pads. Stay a few kilometers away for safety. 5km for normal airports). With those checked you have most stuff you need to keep away from. Then at last you have nr 6. Verneområder ( This is where things gets diffucult because it includes national parks etc. However not all have restriction on drones. To check you can click the "striped area" - click "Verneområder (VMS)" and copy either object ID or the Name of the said area. And google it or use naturbase.no. to find more information. Hope this helps. Cheers.

    What is the way we come to the dron at the airport and the permit and what are you advised? What are the types of drons accepted in Norway?

  • @hanssatrum

    @hanssatrum

    Ай бұрын

    All "drones" are accepted in Norway. If you have a specialty drone with heat or infrared the rules for certification is stricter. However for a regular drone with a camera arriving at the airport should not be a problem at all and you dont need to show papers at the airport. AS FAR AS I KNOW. But i cant say to have any experience with foreigners arriving to Norway. All other qualifications as shown in the video are required but i assume that is only checked during a control when you are already in Norway and flying the drone. If you do everything as stated in the video there is nothing to worry about.

    Great great video. Thanks. But if i for example look on Naturbase, and I look for example at Geiranger fjord.. What layers should I switch on to see prohibited areas for drones-open category. It"s a bit difficult for me to understand how I really can see in which areas flying is allowed. Or are all "verneomrader" forbidden areas?

  • @hanssatrum

    sorry for answering so late. I actually saw you comment long ago and went to check myself. Then forgot about you. If i remember correctly thats an issue i had as well. Not all verneområder has restrictions related to drones. So thats why you have to search in Naturbase. Further more its not specified if its allowed so you just kinda have to trust you did your research well and did not find anything to suggest its illegal.

    Hello! American here traveling to Norway in about a month, I am struggling to find an insurance company for liability coverage while I am there, I have checked a few but it either doesn't cover internationally, or doesn't cover US citizens. If anyone knows a company that will cover internationally that would be greatly appreciated. I also looked into whether my homeowners insurance would cover this and even if it did, the liability coverage isn't high enough for what is demanded. That being said I am also beginning to question if I as a foreigner should fly at all given the horror stories I have read with tourist getting arrested and passports taken after flying drones as well as the concerns of Russians flying drones in Norway right now seem to make it a bit more touchy. Any and all insight on this appreciated!

    Well a few things to consider. If you fly in very popular populated places i think you odds of being stopped increases tenfolds compared to flying in the woods in some remote valley. There are supposed to be increased controls and police are now apparently involved now as well. Mainly in the big cities tho. However of all the cases i can find were people got fined is when they fly over airports, into the windows of a police station and close to a "destroyer" in the harbour. So its very extreme ignorance that leads to fines. I see no cases were a drone pilot got fined for simply not having insurance or being registered. Yet. I think the russian drone paranoia is something you should care very little about. Just avoid flying close to any military installation or at big industry harbours and i dont see a reason for you to be controlled. The insurance needs to cover 0.75 million SDR ( google it ). Cant really help you with that. You should be able to call some norwegian insurance companies and ask. They all speak english. or take a look at Coverdrone. I used them in the past.

  • @hanssatrum

    The mavic pro is heavier than 250g so this video is not really meant for those drones. Further more the drone regulations in different countries varies a lot. If you are in Norway you will need to take the course and exam on Flydrone.no Its a very simple test, so dont worry.
