Money earning pieces of meat

I have CTE. But it’s different in everyone. Mine, thankfully is a slow burn, my speech is becoming a bit slurred and sometimes I puke due to the headaches. I can remember years ago but I have trouble with short term memory. I believe my condition is from rugby, boxing and being blown up in various locations. I suppose I am lucky to be alive, but it was my choice, ultimately, to have chosen the path I led.

It also may have been one of the reasons why Christophe Dominici comitted suicide. He had revealed that after his rugby career he had humour troubles. He also sometimes spent two weeks without sleeping.

that's just a guess isn't it? We know nothing yet about his passing away. It seems more a problem of forwards than backs.

It seems a problem of forwards in rugby more than it could be a problem for backs. In NFL the tackles and thus concussions are much more brutal and frequent to my concern. To change the concussion risk in Rugby Union, the style of playing must change. A step would be to get rid of the scrum, which would lead to less heavy forwards in future i think. Maybe it is also necessary to reduce the number of players, simply to create more space. The question will be what will be left of rugby when taking such invasive measures?

Eh no, it’s not concussion but blunt force trauma to your head in general. Concussion isn’t a disease but a syndrome. There are NFL and NHL players suffering from dementia after a career and had no known diagnosed concussions.

The multiple concussions per game, this sport is potentially very dangerous.

When you say people at the conservative end of it you mean corporate oligarchs that own NFL franchises. The science is very clear in this. Bad journalism to suggest otherwise

NFL readily admits to CTE in NFL now and has a nearly billion dollar fund for treating retired players for head injuries

I'm a bit conflicted by this. I have empathy for these retired players, but at the same time, this is one reason I stopped playing rugby when I went to uni, and started rowing. They made a choice, the risk was obvious. They won world cups, and now in their 40s with nothing to do, and fading memories due to their choices, they're going to sue? For sure, make it safer, no problem, but this is an interesting juncture for sure. Will this kill contact rugby? It's an interesting one for sure.

What would anyone expect from this brutal so called sport? It's bound to take a terrible physical toll and it's madness to even play it. All for what.

@@pleasantville4529 well said and it is exactly as you say,a barbaric game,it's combat. They say it's never been safer, what rubbish. The players are massive,it's all about the big hit and that's celebrated as a great tackle etc.

@peter barlow totally agree with your point and it is their decision like anyones to do whatever, my comment is aimed at rugby as a sport not who's responsible for what. Rugby is ugly and brutal simple. Not a sports fan in particular but compared to football or most other sport except combat ones,its not very beautiful or sublime.

I'm sorry the sport isn't for you. But the sport has come a long way and will keep improving safety and you can't deny that. Don't expect this sport to die out, because it's actually growing in South America, USA and Africa

Nah. NFL helmets don’t protect against it even without helmet to helmet contact

There are massive problems with CTE in American football. They actually lead with the helmet when they tackle

Helmets don't prevent concussions and make the sport more dangerous in all areas.
