I don't understand the rugby world's reluctance to introduce protective equipment; technology has come a long way since 2003. American football's CTE scare resulted in the sport changing its rules and tackling technique to make the game safer (i.e. they started relying less on equipment to protect the players). Rugby, on the other hand, just keeps introducing more/stricter laws to protect it's players. When do we reach the point where it would be acceptable to say that incorporating some protective equipment would be worth serious consideration? Some non-intrusive protective equipment (like neck support or a slightly more substantial cap) could go a long way to help protect the players and keep them on the field. Some exploration in this direction is long past due.

tackle discipline would go out the window if protective gear came in. this is medical teams failing to diagnose because they have a conflict of interest. my suggestion is increase bench size to 25 and any head injuries, aside from maybe cuts that are just cuts and aren't a result of a traumatic collision, leads to subs. also the ball carrier contacting arms to head should stop when they fold their arms around a ball to protect it and charge into another player, often times they end up running into the tacklers head and the rules shouldn't permit that. pick a shoulder to run at, but the tacklers head. there's a lot of things that should be done but no doubt world rugby will do the wrong thing 4 times before they do something right.

This is the same guy who took an insurance payout for £500,000 becaus of a neck injury but managed to play again and had to pay it back 🧐 ...I’m guessing he’s a bit skint and ran out of insurance claims
