@Green Mamba Games With all the concerts and shows she's performed, people on her staff that she's payed, this woman is capable of taking care of her own self and making her own damn decisions. She shouldn't be daddy's cash cow anymore, don't you think? It's about time her family stopped mooching off of her. They won't even let her get married and have a baby with her boyfriend or take a few years off as she's said she wants.

This is so sad. Britney is 39 and basically still subjected to "child abuse." Her parents were taking advantage of her waaaay before she became of legal age, and then they found new ways to continue to abuse and take advantage of her. "Her team" should be *thoroughly* investigated. 1000 bucks say that most of the decisions they were making for her were only good for *themselves.*

Stephan’s little “message to the court” should be seen by the judges making the determination before a decision is handed down. To be capable enough that you can do multiple Vegas shows, tours, new albums, choreography, etc & while paying everyone in your life whether you want to or not just proves that it’s long past time for the conservatorship to go. Yes, there was a time Britney may have needed help, guidance as well as remove any bad actors from her life but is seems those people have turned into the bad actors themselves. It proves the old axiom…money corrupts.

I haven't followed her career, but I was truly surprised and impressed by how many albums she has made. Anybody working that hard for that long is not in need of conservatorship over her rights. She truly has a family of hangers-on being vultures to benefit from her life's work. They have been keeping her in psychiatric servitude. Forcing her to go on Lithium and constant blood tests and surveillance is out of line. The worst thing she ever did was shave her head, and I can tell you there are scores of kids on KZread who have filmed themselves doing that just for fun. Nobody has put them under conservatorship.

It's amazing that she has made it through this time essentially on her own while the person she should be able to trust without reservation, her father, has instead made her life a living hell. John Oliver did a segment on conservatorships, but there *is* a need for them sometimes. My grandma died of dementia and had she not put a medical power of attorney into place (and my aunt invoked it), we would have had to argue for a conservatorship, she was spending money on buying sooo much junk from the sweepstakes companies, got scammed at least twice for around $80,000 (so it wasn't a horrible thing that she'd opened 16, count them sixteen, bank accounts in the 3 years between then and my grandpa's passing. But it was bad that 3 of them were overdrawn....) Sometimes there is no winning situation.

Unfortunately, conservatorships are extremely prone to abuse. Jessica Kellgren-Fozard here on youtube has a great episode about it. If I remember correctly, it goes into more detail than John Oliver did. She also has the perspective of someone with disabilities who advocates for better rights and support systems. I highly recommend it. She really communicates how terrifying an idea a conservatorship is for anyone with a significant disability. Often even family members often use them abusively, just like Britney's father. We certainly need something but I vehemently believe we need something else. Something created by disability advocates and legal experts to make abuse less likely.

Britney's situation is appalling - she deserves full freedom, dignity and the right to live her own life. I hope everyone is aware that her situation is not unique and that there are many people in the same situation often due to disability or mental illness who have been inhumanely deemed as incompetent, had their autonomy and dignity stripped away, and are not permitted to make decisions about their own life or fertility.

Thank you, Linden. I deeply appreciate the understanding that Britney is NOT the only person in a similar situation. I went on SSI to be assured via Medicaid that I could afford my medication no matter what. However, while I have never made (nor does SSI pay) enough to live on, any money or assets I inherit when my parents die will NOT go to ME, but to a trust managed by someone of their choosing (supposedly in my interest!); this person will make the financial decisions- FOR my own good, of course. Because of my mental illness, supposedly I am not only incompetent- I am also too stupid/illogical to notice the obvious conflict of interest there and set-up for being fleeced out of what would otherwise have been mine. It's another of the subtle, intricate ways that being sick will make you poor and being poor always costs more and makes you poorer. VERY obnoxious: to know these things, yet lack credibility (because I'm "crazy").😠 So far my (crazier) parents' best ideas have been my sibling and a private company. In a family full of aunts, uncles, cousins, adult friends.. but I'm incompetent because I have the diagnoses. Mom's idea of "reportable income" includes a $50 Target giftcard as a Christmas gift, even though I told her Social Security does NOT want to hear about every thing you got for Christmas; to the private management place- which is FOR-PROFIT, so of course they steal your money as "operating costs" (because it's SO HARD on their little heads to rent a space, employ people and make all these *decisions!* )- you have to submit a REQUEST for every expenditure; then, THEY(!!) go purchase whatever it is you need! THAT is SICK. Mom asked what I thought I would be needing money for anyway? - I said "a lawyer." Sometimes I feel like walking away from everything, just to be done with the loneliness of being surrounded by what I've come to view as lesser beings for their lack of insight and fortitude, and for their denial of things which should be obvious to sentient beings. And if my family weren't in denial of their own dysfunctionality- that they have put me in a "scapegoat" role, regardless of what's wrong with me- they might be able to see that what they are doing is setting me up for failure once again, refusing to listen when I'm telling them EXACTLY what I need, once AGAIN. It sucks sometimes: being the only member of a family who's been forced to improve herself.😒

Whispering, or speaking softly, is a very powerful public speaking tool. I’ve taken several public speaking courses and used to speak to large crowds all the time and I would sometimes use it to make a point that I wanted people to remember. Think of the monotone Mango Mussolini, his constant droning on just makes people tune out and lose interest. When you speak softly, people will stop talking and physically lean in closer to hear you. Works like a charm every time.
