Carter was convicted twice by mixed race juries and prosecutors. Carter was dishonorably discharged by Army for crimes in uniform. Carter beat nearly to death a woman who worked for second trial. Carter not found innocent. Guilty as convicted but let go over a technicality by judge who hated DA. Carter gave interview to Look " I like shooting people". None of this was in film. White rascists? The film was based on book Carter wrote, A self declared black racist who murdered over his racism.

Notice all the people who are pro-Carter are very young (easy to trick) from Canada, the UK, or Australia (don't like America) and all the people who know Carter was a killer (which he was) are usually older (more intelligent) and have looked more deeply into this issue (research) and formulated opinions (after factual true research) and direct others to the correct area of reasearch (instead of reading a book written by the killer himself). Interesting indeed.

James--in this case there was no 3rd trial. He was convicted twice of murder and now he wanted a 3rd trial. The County and the Court did not want to have another expensive trial with a bragging and belligerent Carter, so a retiring old and apathetic Judge let him out on a technicality...as I said there was no NOT Guilty-- There was no trial... He was never declared innocent or guilty. Technically he remains GUILTY but without incarceration.

He said that wasn't true. Elwood Tuck refused to make a false statement for Carter and cover up for him. I liked reading the book too at the time. And gave Carter the benefit of the doubt on his guilt. The brother of his manager, knew how Explosive , Mean, & Violent he was.The crime was the climax of this.

In the book I believe that he mentioned that the black jurors were dismissed and in truth this doesn't seem to be the case. Doesn't he have a conscience? How can he be so smug and present himself as honest and 'wronged' by society if in fact (and it looks so) he did kill all of those people in revenge for the death of Rawls' uncle? If a person is guilty of murder in the USA, and questioned by the Patterson New Jersey Police, why would a guilty person be allowed to fight in Argentina? If a person is guilty why would that guilty person return to the USA, when the person could have avoided prosecution, by staying in Argentina? If Rubin Carter is guilty, why didn't the state of New Jersey seek a new trial? At the time Rubin Carter was alive, why couldn't DNA samples be retrieved from Rubin Carter? Carter was a free man during the initial investigation because he was deemed “too famous to run,” and the prosecutors wanted time to build a very strong case against someone who was such a prominent figure in the tense black community. They wanted to make certain they had the case nailed before they arrested him. Yes, he did have a fight. Argentina sounds right. But with no charges against him at the, time and the fight coming nearly two months after the murders, why effectively admit guilt and exile yourself to a strange place? There was no prosecution to avoid at the time! He probably thought he was going to get away with it. By the time he was freed by Judge Sarokin, Carter had spent nearly 20 years in prison. With the case weakening over time due to and fading memories, etc. it did not seem to be worth the enormous expense of time and money to conduct a third trial, and so they didn’t. I don’t disagree with that decision.

I am discussing Carters guilt, and you not wanting to admit it, simply turn the gears and try to throw it back on me. Believe it or not, I care nothing what some Canadian teenager thinks of me (shocking I know), we are here to debate Rubin Carters guilt (which he is). You are trying to discredit me by saying I'm mean. That's your problem.

I 'm going to be ignorant and believe the movie over these haters considering how ignorant they are considering how they sabotaged Denzel.. Denzel had a job to do, he did it and did it well. I don't believe that personal opinions, beliefs and or dis-beliefs about the real case should have hindered Denzel washington's chances to win the Oscar for that roll. It states right in the movie in the very beginning that though it is based on a true story certain parts and names have been fictionalized!

I lost all respect for Denzel Washington after he did this film. An actor has a duty to know the truth about the person he's portyraying. An inspirational movie about unjust incarceration is fine if the person being portrayed is innocent. Either Denzel is saying he believes he's innocent, or he simply found the role too good to pass up even if in the end the story is untrue. This tells me Mr. Wahington is not a man of principle. He should be ashamed of himself. This film is a fucking farce.

There for Immigration should be revoking his citizenship and sending him back to New Jersey, and then perhaps the NJ courts will get it together and see all the evidence that has mounted against him as guilty of a triple homocide, and try and convict him for the 3rd time so he can finish out his prison sentence in prison where

Well only4nessa, I have to respectfully disagree on some points. 1. t's always relevant when people were murdered. They showed Hazel Tanis family and they were disgusted by all the praise Carter was given. They say their mother told them it was Carter who shot her. 2. I did not insult all Canadians as a whole. The movie was written by the Canadians who were anti-US. They slanted the truth at every turn (in most cases lied to fit their anti-US sentiment). I noticed a pattern develop.cont.

Thanks mate. It makes sense now having read his book. He always did have a penchant for anti-white violence. But it's sad that all of this is a product of the society that he was brought up in. The violence, racism, police thuggery and general societal depression made him what he is. He seems all nice and calm now but I'm sure that underneath it all the kettle is still on the boil waiting for another outburst.

The producers of this show don't wanna consider anything but the possibility that Carter was guilty. When in reality, there's no chance he was.

I actually agree with you where Rubin Carter is concerned. No doubt in my mind that he killed those people. But an American telling me about my countries laws and personal freedoms is a whole other matter. I did look up information on hate crimes in Canada and there are some exceptional cases just as there are in America where people were sent to jail for a very short period of time. I found way more cases in America however.
