Rpm fluctuation issue while driving
2000 Mercury Mystique automatic 4cyl
While driving at a constant speed the rpm gauge starts to fluctuate especially between 40-50 mph. The gauge is not broken as you can hear the trany rpms increasing when this happens. You can see this most clearly around 1:20 in the video. If I release on the gas the rpms will back down and then ill hit the gas again and most the time it resets back to normal or it may continue to fluctuate.
Replaced: Throttle position sensor, Crankshaft position sensor, Camshaft sensor, transmission input and output speed sensors. Cleaned MAF and Throttle Body and checked ground wires.
Replacing battery today as well
Transmission fluid is clean and no smell
This started 10 days ago
Any suggestions as to what could cause this?

After replacing all the sensors and being told it wasn't the trany we started over and found out we were supposed to have "calibrated" the throttle position sensor. Just did that and have taken it on 3 test drives with no issues. I would say check your throttle position sensor and crankshaft position sensor first then let me know what happens or if your symptoms are the same or different than mine

Hey hii just saw your video even i am facing similar problem on mu diesel car while driving on 4 and 5 th gear when the rpm touches 2000 mark it suddenly jumps to over 3000 with loss in power and car makes acceleration sound .. what should i do ?

mine does it around 35 to 38mph it's a 200rpm up down

Same problem in my Audi. I just brought the car in dealership for car maintenance and then just after 1 day this problem occured. What is that sabotage? So that I will bring back the car to them again? And everytime i bring the car to them they always find something wrong! Knowing that I strictly follow the maintenance schedule of my car. Now i have decided better to bring the car in small business shops not in that dealership anymore.

Most dealerships are very corrupt and deceitful, especially Ford Stealerships.

In my 1997 my rpm meter just keep going it doesn’t shift down like it keeps going to the red another 70 mph or better
I was told to check the CVT ...

does power reduces or acc decreases when fluctuates? mine fluctuate s in neutral as well and power reduces

Same issue for my Nissan frontier 2000 v6 it even turned off at a stop

Your throttle body needs to be clean check your obd2

What was the fix? To the problem
My jeep would buck at highway speed and jump from 2000 rpm to 3000 rpm very quickly. It felt like a dead spot....well, here is what caused that....

Im having the same issue also when im driving on highway its normal but lower speeds the shifting feels different
Same issue I replaced throttle position Sensor issue stop for a little bit but then it’s doing it again then I noticed a lot of other little things started going like interior dome lamp, exterior cooling fans are no longer staying on after the car off and I am so you know it’s popping cards I read the card it just says the same thing proposition all this nonsense and I don’t know what to do I read on here somewhere somebody said the alternator that’s getting into way more than I can afford right now if it’s not the problem please somebody help me

lindie jam could me mass air flow, Speed sensor, or pcm. Easiest way to check the alternator would be take it out and down to a parts store so they can test the charging capabilities of the alternator.
