Dropping RPMs when accelerating at highway speeds
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is video of a 1990 Honda Accord DX with symptoms of rpms that drop when the car goes from cruising to accelerating at highway speeds. If you watch the tach, it starts to go up kind of quickly, then immediately drops and increases like normal.

how did you fix this? had the same problem too..
It's the torque converter. All Honda automatics do that. An 06 Accord i used to have would go all the way down to 1200 at 65 mph, then go back to 2200 after accelerating again.

So it this normal or an issue with torque converter? My 14 fusion does this

So is this normal?
We got to see it hit 223K.

why is this the most liked comment here 😂
My Honda does the same thing. Torque converter engaging and disengaging. Depending on throttle input it will disengage for more power and then reengage. Hondas in the 90s didn't do it very smoothly either since their transmissions are known to shift hard
it's either the torque converter or a compression issue in the cylinders, linking to a hesd gasket problem.

What if this is accompanied by a dip in oil pressure as well. Or would there be in this case possibly also.
Check your O2 sensors it could be sending wrong signals to the ecu rich or lean condition
i dont think so it torque coverter ... if torque converter there must be a noise or shudder or hard to enggaged or hard to shift the gear ..... most likely it was because of fuel pump fuel filter of injector or maf sensor that control the oil and air mixture
My accord did this because the cables to the throttle and cruise control where lose.
I was pulling my boat going around 60mph. Rpm’s were at about 1500- 1800. Is that bad?
This is lean Condition this cause by fuel problem may be filter may be fuel line may be your injectors may be fuel pump it self Check fuel pressure
Cheaper things to check first: dirty throttle-body, bad plug(s), bad coil(s), dirty/bad injectors, dirty MAF, dirty air filter, vacuum leak(s)

@@andrejalucic1194 unless the trans fluid is low, and you can refill it (it's not sealed), it's not exactly a cheap thing to fix. I would save that for when you rule the cheaper/easier stuff out first.

My 2015 Chrysler 300S does that as well. I'm still curious myself if it's normal or not...
