20 years for nothing feel sorry for these soldiers RIP america

My sister served 23years I US Airforce, got very sick with the PTSD, and shot herself, I haven’t heard it lately, but for a while on tv they informed us that every 85 minutes a veteran kills him or herself, that war takes it toll, I Witnessed fresh young soldiers going off to war in Iraq,let me tell you 15-18 months later when they returned, they were much older and tired looking men, I worked at a manger airport for 33 years, and had the privilege of meeting these heroes (even after my sisters incident) I still am proud of my Country, I am proud of every American and Allied personal who serves,

Its great that the Royal Marines are making these materials and keeping them as a historic document.

If anyone is shocked about the ANA, they should watch the ''Vice'' docu called: This Is What Winning Looks Like, you wont believe how hopeless these guys are.,

I also worked with Marines in Afghanistan Helman province from 2011 up to 2016 . The Marines really good guys. I have good memories with Marines. And we passed many operations in Helmand Province.

Please don't be like this I'm sure there are people who wants to have a different life. Education, leisure, family, PEACE. Why don't they deserve things that you have? Geography must not be a person's destiny. I think you saying that would be the most upsetting thing to the men on the ground who have lost their friends and maybe mental or physical health in order to give those people a second chance.

Call it geographic destiny or otherwise, but incompatibilities and irreconcilable differences between locations, people, cultures, and nations exist.

It's a shame... If the world wanted to stop drug-trade they could. But they don't want to...

Giving back to Afghans, police and Army and training them to take care of their country themselves is the best strategy, very commendable.

Ty for your service and documentation I remember 9 11 2001 and the withdrawal 2022 I think it was a disaster

I wish all these brave soldiers efforts had paid more dividends. But at least some Afghan people might not think that they are devils. And back in the post-9/11 world this mission was an important one. God bless them all. The 'Afghan Army' was always a joke - too bad.

The Afghanistan "Army." What an exercise in box-checking.

I think the shame is the total lack of vetting and checking the ANA. The incidents of child rape and sexual assault, drug abuse, etc, are appalling. Hence, my heart goes out to the people of Afghanistan and these brave and rather idealistic British soldiers here are having all of their dreams/hard slog ruined. Ben Anderson has a great doco called "This is What Winning Looks Like" is an incredible insight into the realities of the ANA.

All that I can say really. Its thank you bloody much for making the world a better place to live in. When I was a kid growing up in El Salvador back in the 80's we were not so lucky to have you Britanicos around.

Hell it must be tough for these fellas to look at this now.

These Marines are so professional! I just wish that we had people from England like them to help us in Spain between 1936-1939. Then IEDs were being dropped on civilians from aircraft, and the insurgents won.

I will never question a man's bravery, but the body language of the ANA soldiers shows me that they believe their defeat is imminent. It's just my observation, and I could obviously be wrong. I know they are willing to fight and desperately want things to change, but they seem to be saying "here we go again, what's the use?" After decades of abuse, invasion, and foreign occupation, I understand their frustration. The difficulty is instilling confidence and a sense of urgency to obtain what may be possible in a people who can't even dream of those things. It is both frustrating and heartbreaking. The other obvious thing is how do you build a unified Afghanistan in a country that constantly points out tribal differences?

I wonder what the marines thought about the ANA having M16s while they have L85. I know its been updated and is better these days but still.. the cost off the update was $1900 a weapon which is atleast 2 new really goid M16 pattern rifles. Makes me wonder how well the strategic assests are resourced if something this obvious things like individual weapons are done so poorly.
