Best thing about this video (And the earlier RE track video): it shows you don't have to have the biggest, baddest squid-missile to be able to go to a track and enjoy yourself. Bone stock SV650? Perfectly fine. Ninja 400? Perfectly fine. Something totally unsuited like an Interceptor 650? Sketchy, but still perfectly fine. In fact, I'd be willing to bet the Enfield got more second looks than most of the bikes there. Videos like this that show that an average rider on an average bike can do a track day and have fun, instead of taking risks on the public road. Plus, it's funny to watch Yammie haul the rather unwilling Enfield around the track.

Taking this bike to the track feels like the equivalent of taking a CBR on a dirt track. Sure, it can do it, and be modified to do it better than stock, but it will mostly just reveal that it’s not what it was designed for.

Put and Yss kit in the fork, that made a big difference how the bike handles the stock springs are too weak if you want to push it and the stock oil is 2W I put 10W in mine with the upgraded springs. Swapped the rear shocks as well with a YSS set. You can get the GT rear set to put on that bike it's about 4 inches further back.

YES PLEASE YAMMIE NOOB. Mod away!!! Stage 1, tires, rear sets and front suspension and do please re-test on track! Many of us would LOVE to see what can be done on these RE's without blowing a big budget. Apparently the bones of the bike has been painstakingly developed by race bike engineers (one being Aussie legend Paul Young) and frame/geometry by Harris Performance so somewhere beneath the retro looks lies an inherently "sporty" bike, please find it and report back. 🙏

Have the 2022 650 Interceptor, instantly got rid of the tyres they gave me no confidence whatsoever, it comes with centre and side stands - got rid of centre stand. Changed exhaust and purchased high flow air filter along with booster plug, it runs cooler and faster with booster plug, I smile everytime I get on it. A wheel alignment solved the wobbling in the front wheel. I rode the Interceptor and the GT and found the GT having its handle bars set in a lower position put more body weight straight through my wrists, after 15min on the GT it was realy uncomfortable being 6ft 2inches tall and weigh about 115kg, I found I could ride the Interceptor all day no issues. I do like the racer look of the GT though, great video mate, please do another track one when you have moded it up. 👍🏻👍🏻

Remove the peg sliders, some progressive YSS springs in the forks with a heavier fork oil, upgrade the rear shocks and put in Brembo pads to give a better feeling on the brakes. Lob on a couple of better shoes than stock, Phantoms are good for the dry but found them awful in the damp. Certainly allows the GT650 Continental to go a lot better, so I'd imagine it would work for the Interceptor too. I could certainly go quicker on the GSXR, but I have a bigger grin on the GT650! ;) Makes you work for the rewards!!

I wonder if a steering damper would help with the front end chatter

As an Interceptor owner, I can say that (if Yammie's is a '22 model like mine) I think the number one thing it needs is tires that aren't made by an Indian agriculture tire manufacturer lol. Even just street riding I get occasional chatter. Different tires are on the list for next spring, hopefully that's the source.

try it on RE gt 650, with 17 inch tyres

  • @mad082sss

Putting 17's on may be a mistake if your tyre diameter decreases. You are already scraping the pegs now, going lower would make it worse and may just cancel out the gains you get from the rear sets

my Buell Blast would probably give it a run for its money on that course......don't get me wrong...I love RE for its price point and what it offers....retro cool....I own a Himalayan......but that is all they are....a cruising retro cool bike.....and that is what I LOVE about them.....LOL

This is a low speed engine plus air cooled so it will wear the engine out soon if you ride high revs like this often.

The stock tires are truly trash. After two weeks I replaced mine with Bridgestone BT46s and it’s SO much better.

@@noisefuljoy those are great! The later models (I have a 2022) went with a much cheaper Ceat Zoom Cruz tire, which you can tell by the name isn’t exactly the pinnacle of performance 😂

Get the Big Bore 865 kit if you want to get a little more power out of it (around 71hp with proper tune) and everything that accompanies it, air filter, clutch plates, cam shaft, YSS suspensions and a 2 in 1 exhaust. the Gt650 would have better ergo's for the track than the INT650.

How much is all that gonna cost? I'm just thinking here that, at that point wouldnt it be more reasonable to just buy an mt-07/xsr700. If you like the retro style maybe triumph street twin? I know tuning is fun but still.
