Okay! Looks like everyone is confused about wtf happened. Let me explain: Isaiah applied constant throttle into the corner and did not apply load into the front tire by trail braking. Constant throttle + adding lean angle + wet road = lack of traction. He could have fixed this by lightly rolling off the throttle, but by that point he kept applying throttle and the bike went down. **I was not speeding or riding aggressively** I told Isaiah before we went on this ride that it was wet and I was going to be riding 5mph under the speed limit at all times. I was extremely conscious to keep him safe but sometimes, it's out of my control. He is 100% okay and is super stoked he won the bike. He was a good sport! ALSO! I never forced Isaiah to do anything he wasn't comfortable with. We had a great day chatting about bikes, his plans with the Enfield, and more. He was okay with being on camera and he wanted to go ride!
@hps1955
Жыл бұрын
I can tell by the video he was not riding aggressive he was taking it nice and slow and I totally agree with letting off the throttle but riding since 1985 and a motorcycle mechanic since 1990 if he had better tires it might not have happened. If the tires where replace from the factory tires I am totally wrong but if the factory tires are still on the motorcycle then the tires definitely played in to the bike going down. Motorcycle racers have raced in the rain with maximum lean angles and don't low side because they have good tires and better notorcycle engineering ergonomics.

@Gismo3333
Жыл бұрын
You have to train on riding on gravel then. The bike is not suppose to kick out just because of gravel. That can happen if it is ice, but not gravel. It may have been braking that cased it. Maybe engine-braking. You have to brake very smooth and slow when you got less traction and lean into a corner. Both of them eating up the grip at the same time. But most of the time when the tires give out suddenly. It is because something abrupt happen. Slower and smoother on the clutch, throttle, brakes, steering, leaning… And it is always hard to know what happened after. At lest if you don't have video of it. And no matter how good you get at this, you need to be better and practice it every time you start riding. If not only for one or two minutes, when you leave your home down the street. Braking, counter-steering and being smooth on the controls. That is never a bad idea to start a ride. You also get your tires warmed up.

@@Gismo3333 yeah, combo of a pretty tight corner and just hitting it a bit fast. Im thankful i didnt ruin my bike or myself lol
All this talk about rider error, physics, etc _ ALL BS. There is no way that tire should have lost grip at that speed with that lean angle. There are two feasible causes: rider hit an oil spot or something on the road that tucked the front; or 2. tires were scorched on the edges from track day abuse. Either way, if this were rider error, millions of motorcyclists across America would be dead already.
I have a simple rule: rain = pain. If it rains, it's time to bring out the 4-wheeler, no fancy for some wet gravel.

It happens man; took it like a champ. The bike can be fixed. Anyone who tells you they've not been down on a motorcycle either just started or is lying. Happens to all of us, don't sweat it. About 3 weeks ago, I picked up my first, brand new bike which is also my first liter bike. The ride home was like something out of a 3rd rate disaster film, fog so thick I could see about 10ft. Mountain passes (which was my fault, I wanted to go over the mountain as a "fun" first ride on the new bike, I should have known better when I saw the weather threatening). And, towards the elevation peaks, guess what? Yea, you got it, snow. And me riding a 165HP 25,000 dollar motorcycle that, when the snow hit, might have had 35 miles on the odometer. I made it, but it was SLOW going. Yes, that's me, riding a motorcycle that can do 186MPH at 10MPH in a sweeper. Deal with it. First rule, forget what other people think. If you fall, it's not the people making fun of you for riding slow who are sliding across the pavement its you and your bike. Way to recover though, get it fixed up and get back on the bike.
Followed the speed of the bike in front without following the technique, both line and throttle/brake. You were chillin' as you might as well have been because it's that sort of bike you were on but Yammie Noob is a different type of rider. Had you been riding on your own you wouldn't have fallen imo.
Yam was on the RSV4 electronics galore that was so unfair lol poor guy
S*/t Happens .. as long as the rider are all right , get up and move on! It can be fixed ...
Would be nice if yamm offered to help put it back together and then when it’s sunny do a redemption ride. I’d watch it for sure and if for nothing else to see if he goes down again… hope not though.
I bet Isaiah wishes you had put some stickier tires on that thing lol.
We've all been there Isaiah! I was on my first bike for 10 minutes before I whiskey throttled into a bush lol. You got up and walked away man that's what's important.
Wet weather tip: Typically an automobile will leak oil from the center of the vehicle and onto the middle of the lane which their driving upon. Over time, the middle of a lane of traffic can accumulate a good bit of oil which will lift up when saturated with a light rain. With this being said, the middle of your lane can provide the least amount of traction when experiencing a light rain. A heavy rain can be a blessing as the water can wash the oil off the road and improve your traction to some degree. Compound dealing with slick riding conditions ,new tires and a bike your not terribly familiar with and your chances of having a similar accident improves drastically.
I can imagine the embarrassment, he could have felt after crashing that bike, but this is just a reminder to us that stuff like this can happen and it's something that can happen when rideing, even I have sometimes slid across the ground with the shiney side down, hope his wrist heals and the bike gets to be the little scrambler it wants to be.

"tell me in your words what happened." "something something clibbins HADDALAYERDOWN!"
I don't know. The explanation makes sense I guess, he didn't let out the throttle, but he is also covering the brake. He seems to be too far outside in the turn, starts to tighten the turn, then the front tire loses traction and he turns even further then because of the loss of the road force pushing back. Is he sure he didn't brake somewhere in there? I don't know what his tires look like, but he wasn't really going that fast. I ride in the rain and haven't had issues, but I didn't think issues were only a few MPH away.:) But I instictively don't overload either tire. I.e. throttle + brake + lean. Just seems like the tires on that bike were not made for rain at all.

If he would have stabbed the brake or blipped the throttle to upset the suspension we would of seen it. I really feel the center of that wet lane had pushed oil to the surface and got the better of him! I feel so bad for him man!

I never ever ride in the rain
Dang- that’s hard luck, but at least his bike is ok and more importantly Issaiah is ok! He is a really good sport
You're definitely not the only one buddy.
Hmm ive ridden plenty in the wet and not much above zero, from what I see looked like late leaning without counter steer combined with handlebar action, easy to do on a bike you can sit dead upright on and a potentially less desirable tyre? I never trail braked on my aprilia shiver and it got its pegs scraped and got scary low in rain
Might not want to ride your first ride in the rain. He was probably trying to keep up with Yammie and the tires were not quite right for the rain. Yammie should at least clean the bike up, buff it out and replace the grip and lever before shipping it back. He can afford it and it would be a nice gesture.
Them rain clibbins were in the road! Haddalayerdown.
Aww mate gutted for ya 😢 we all go down at some point, coulda been a lot worse.. ride on bro. Did look like a lil be to much lean but hey was wet as hell. Just unlucky.. ride safe
That could be any of us. Gotta feel for the guy.
Yammie: hey what happened? Ol boy: idk I just slid Me: my guy ran out of talent is what happened
Noraly aka Itchyboots had an RE that she rode from Asia to Europe, I think she added some stuff to protect the motor and her legs. Otherwise it did ok
