He uses an ABY splitter and an octave-up pedal to make it sound like there's multiple guitars...it's a pretty neat set-up.

13dirty666 From a picture of his pedal board, it looks like he uses 2 Electro Harmonic POGs, 2 Boss PS6s, 1 Boss GE7, 1 Boss TU3, 1 Strymon Flint Tremelo & Reverb, 1 LS-2 and 1 Palmer Triage. That seems enough to achieve his tone unless he's added more recently.

13dirty666 The Palmer Triage is what makes the difference really because he can choose which amp he runs it through, effectively making 1 bass sound like 3 Instruments. Quite a neat set-up really.

These guys are seriously so talented. Got a new album on the way and I'd love to so them headline at R and L next year but they're probably not ready yet...

James Suppprting Muse maybe? Theyre busy most of the summer but nothings been announced for August bank holiday The poster has Liam Gallagher down.as main support for Muse and they're a couple of bands short of a full days schedule compared with the others. What a treat that would be.

I'm pretty certain now that'll they'll be the secret set at R and L now.. Would make perfect sense, it's strange that they're not on the lineup and that's the only reason I can think of. You could be right but they don't normally release the stage splits and order if they're gonna shake it up loads, plus the secret set is normally a band who are either pre-album release or have just released it ready for a big tour which Royal Blood will be. Either way I'm still pretty confident they'll be there:)

Like Them Crooked Vultures a few years back. The Bloods have been real shady n cryptic on social media like a track on Mikes Spotify play list spelled Royal Blood Backwards n posting map co-ordinates to find the album art unveiling. I've never seen them before n we've all been waiting for this album. I'm always channel hopping on here n about a year ago I my auto play took me to a band called Highly Suspect. There are 3 of them n they blew me away n continue to do so. I've seen them twice n love them as much as RB. I'm definitely going Leeds on the Saturday but it would be freaking baddass if RB play Sunday. :)

As someone who doesn't know much about musical instruments I still don't understand how just two people can create this sound.

He plays it on bass using multiple amplifiers, he switches in different amps and effects using foot switches , e.g. a clean bass with a distorted sound on top and any other effects he uses to get a layered tone, basically he "builds" soundscapes.

+Dave Stevens don't forget the octave up pedal, which gives the bass a guitar range!
