Many people don't understand eric harding was a mmuuucchhh better fighter than Antonio tarver and dominated him knocking him down etc.. in there 2nd fight harding was killing tarver even worse until he got caught...harding was a beast for a 3 to 4 year period

Gotta disagree with you to a degree. I was at the 1st Tarver-Harding fight at Grand Casino in Biloxi, MS. Harding didn’t flat-out “dominate” Tarver: It was a see-saw bout until the 9th round, when Harding broke Tarver’s jaw. Tarver has a BAAAAD habit of cruising & tiring out early, which is what caused most of his losses, including his Olympic loss against Jirov.

One of the most competitive fights from Roy. Funny how times have changed. At 27, commentator mentioned how he “ only” had 20 fights. Would be more than most champions today. He had beaten Antonio Tarver, and didn’t have OLY experience, but understood how to fight Roy off of the back foot. Up jab, hooking around the guard, straights to the body.

This is how you can tell Roy was better than Tarver. Harding had beat up Tarver before this fight. You can stretch it (like Merchant did) and say "Harding gave Roy problems" but it wasn't a close fight. Roy made the fight. And he's the champion!!. Tarver then won split decision over Reggie Johnson, but was knocked down, and won Ud12 over Griffin. Roy beat both those guys pretty easy. Roy is the G.o.a.t !!!

@@sherrillraymond7595 thats not how you measure fights tho. Styles make fights. Just because "fighter A" Beats "fighter B" and "fighter B" beats "fighter C" doesn't mean "fighter A" will beat "fighter C". Because all styles have different weaknesses. Also the only reason tarver beat Roy was because he had Roy's play book from sparring him so much. Roy said he would never fight another sparring partner again during the post fight interview after beating "the honey boy" because the honey boy gave him problems and even dropped roy. Thus was during his prime. Not saying roy wasn't better than tarver he was WAY better than tarver. But tarver had a "cheat code" which was knowing roys patterns from all the sparring they did together. Roy just made a mistake by ignoring the rule he made for himself a few years back and that was fighting sparring partners.

Yeah, he got to parade around with the belts for a little bit, make some money on the rematch, all that fun stuff. Respectable move? Nah. He ate some tiny love taps, looked all around for how he should react, then pulled a pathetic keeling over trick to convince everyone he was killed by the shots. We saw what happened the second go around. THAT was what a real knockout looks like.

I agree Hash Two , well said , Dariusz Michalczewski , the True King of the LHWs in the 90s , he was the most successful , highly decorated and only undefeated multiple LHW Champion of the that Decade . Jones had to rely on the WBC , to gift him their Strap twice for free , 96 and 98 , then he beat lesser Class guys like Delvalle , WBA , 98 and the ancient Reggie Johnson , 99 , IBF , and then somehow , tell the World he was Undisputed , when Dariusz was the Lineal and WBO Champion , and had the IBF and WBA Titles stolen from him within 1 month of beating Virgil Hill in 97 , a year before Jones beat him in a Non Title , dead rubber fight in 98 as neither had 1 between them . Dariusz Michalczewski was a Pressure fighter as was Gracianno Rocchigiani and Steve Collins , all would have given him nightmares at SMW and LHW had he have fought them and were most definitely better than old timers Mc Callum , Johnson , Lucas , Thornton , Frazer , Kelly etc . All the best 🥊🥊

@@francishegarty8087 So I apologize in advance. But why are you everywhere trying to discredit Jones Jr achievements? At first I thought it was just the usual guy giving facts but then I noticed your wording sounded rather bias. Then I realized you’ve been doing it for 3 years…….. The only ancient fighter on the list you mentioned was Mike McCallum. Reggie Johnson was just 32 and had never been in any serious wars. Same with Virgil Hill. The worst you could give Hill is the absolute boxing lesson Thomas Hearns gave him. Having actually sat down to actually watch Dariusz to see exactly what he was capable of I don’t think he would’ve beaten Jones Jr. Styles make fights but Richard Hall had a seriously competitive 1st fight with Dariusz. The rematch was more one sided but still a competitive match during the earlier rounds before Hall was figured out. Richard Hall stood no chance against Jones Jr to the point where it looked like he was fighting an amateur. I’d like to have a serious conversation about this rather than a onslaught of cherry-picked wiki information being thrown at me. Why was Dariusz the king of LHW despite having vastly less impressive wins over the same opponents Jones Jr beat to you? Is it because of Jones Jr’s fans?

@@tmac1499 Hi Tmac , first off , thanks for your reply and second , your know your Boxing but there are some things that need to be straight off here if we are to be honest , Reggie Johnson was 39 pushing 40 fighting Jones , and the only reason why he became a Champion again at LHW at that age , is because he beat a guy called William Guthrie who beat another guy called Darrin Allen , for the vacant IBF Title , which was stolen from Dariusz who had won it from Virgil Hill in 97 . Reggie was 32 when he beat Steve Collins for the vacant WBA MW Title in 92 , Mike Mc Callum vacated this very Title to avoid Collins , who he'd out-pointed 2 years previously , when Collins came in as a late replacement for British guy Michael Watson who'd sustained a broken nose in training , late 89 , early 90 . Jones had also won the WBA LHW Title from Lou Delvalle , in 98 , he'd won it in a vacation Bout having beaten Dutch guy Eddie Smulders in 98 , once again , another Title stolen from Dariusz who'd taken it from Virgil Hill . This is the reality Tmac and please correct me if I'm wrong here , RJJ , claimed to be Undisputed after beating old Reggie , IBF , in 99 , Lou Delvalle , WBA in 98 and worst still , having stolen the WBC Strap from the Legitimate WBC Champion , the late Gracianno Rocchigiani in 98 , and do you actually believe this ? Your probably not going to like or believe this but in 99 , straight after the Reggie Johnson fight , Michalczewski was an unbeaten LHW Champion since 94 , was the Legitimate WBO , WBA , IBF and Lineal Titles holder up to then , had twice as many fights as Jones at LHW in the 90s and still is to this day , the record holder as an unbeaten Champion with 23 defences V 20 different opponents . Please forgive me if I sound biased towards RJJ but a true Champion doesn't steal Titles from Guys , Gracianno Rocchigiani , RIP , and not even have the guts to fight the Man , nor does he win Titles that belonged to someone else , Dariusz Michalczewski , then claimed to be Undisputed . For the record , Dariusz , Gracianno and Michael Nunn , another guy he disgracefully ducked , and actually dropped a Title to avoid in late 97 , WBC LHW , were all ranked Top 5 LHWs and RJJ fought none , do you honestly feel he deserved to be called Undisputed LHW King in 99 because I most certainly don't , to be the best you beat the best , that's my whole argument . All the best 🥊🥊

@@tmac1499 I'm not trying to discredit Jones achievements but I most certainly will not give him credit where it isn't due , he was not the best LHW of the 90s , Dariusz Michalczewski was and to be blatantly honest here , the most unluckiest and most ripped off , was Gracianno Rocchigiani , RIP , whose WBC Strap was disgracefully , disgustingly , stolen from him by Jones and the cheats within the WBC in 98 , proven in a Court of Law , NYC in 03 , and he got disqualified in a Bout with Michalczewski for his WBO Strap in 96 , got DQ after striking after the Ref had called ' Break ' DM made a meal of it and this was bad . Jones had a case for a bad DQ v Griffin , first fight but he struck him twice while he was on his knee , harsh but correct .
