I've created this video from the footage filmed over many months, while creating the Discovery 2 V8 engine rebuild series of videos.
Its a nice round up of the project.

Lovely series mate well done. Got one of one of those in my 2001 P38 Range Rover. Always wanted one and its a great restoration project. First had one in a Rover 3500 i bought new in my 30s so 40+ years ago! Never forget that sound as the Rover V8 always had a slightly off beat sound to it but what a lovely engine.

Couldn't agree more! It's a lovely thing. I've grown to love ours. I've been towing the a rolling road around recently, the rover engine is doing a fantastic job, taking the total 5 tons of train weight in its stride.

While people trash on the rover v8 a lot I like them keep the cooling system in check and use high zinc oil and it’ll last a long time even the 4.6 can last a long time if properly cared for

Thabks for the comment Dylan. I'm a convert, I'm afraid I didn't used to rate them at all, but now I love the thing. It's a lovely old engine, with a super low rpm peak torque, which makes for effortless driving. I couldn't agree more its a cracking bit of kit

Man, what a journey. What’s your background? Are you a mechanic by training? I watched the whole thing like I was watching the godfather trilogy. What a great challenge you overcame. Cheers

Juaco, you're too kind! Thabks fir watching. It was rediculous it took as long to find that problem as it did to rebuild the engine in the first place. Crazy! This is all just a hobby really. I started with lego and taking other things apart, then got a 1976 toyota land cruiser when I was 14 and it all went from there. You can see this and other strange projects in my "previous projects" videos. The land cruiser is where it all started. Thanks for your kind comment

Hello!! I'm about to build a LR v8 3.9 engine!! And I have a question!! The brand of the pistons on the left side point forward and those on the right side point backward? (LR V8 3.9) thanks

Exciting! I love an engine rebuild! If I remember correctly there's an arrow on the piston top and it should always point towards the front of the engine. This is because of the offset wrist pin, reducing the side loading on the bore.
