Yes! My Smoky would sit with my mother while she was talking to the neighbors in our yard. When my bus would arrive about 300 yards away, he would get antsy until my mother said “go get him”, and he would run the 300 yards, take one loop around me and sprint back to my mother. Awesome dog, the love of my life.

Idk, we have one. Probably one of the most beautiful dogs ever owned (tri color) but our dog is just so damn… dependent and always follows us anywhere in the house. Plus no common sense lol. I came here wondering if they were all the same

@@00700556 they require a lot of socialization and activity, if you don’t have anyone at home all the time for walks and play then they get extremely bored and will continue to follow you around in hopes you’ll do something with them. They are fragile though as is their stomachs you probably know. Best advice is constantly show them new stimulus, one of the few things people don’t mention when they own this breed is that they’re working dogs. They were bred to herd so if they don’t get to do that they need to be doing something to fill that natural need!

Through the majority of my 80 years of life I have had the marvelous companionship of at least one wonderful Collie at a time. Today I have two beautiful and sweetly spirited 3 year old Collies. They very well may out live me. But all the same I try to keep them with best nutrition available. The Male is Named Mactavish and my lady dog is named Queenie Aileen. They both watch after me and my lone cat. A female named Keiko. We all walk, talk and Plat together each day. I do not believe there are a better companion anywhere on thus planet. It make me very happy to arise in the morning knowing I will be greeted by two happy, smiling tail wagging canines.

I have a question for you if you don't mind. I am really wanting to get a rough collie, but I am concerned about the grooming requirements. Would a rough collie be appropriate for a senior citizen? It seems that you have rough collies. I have read that they can be difficult to groom and have to have a lot of brushing almost daily to keep them from being matted. What is your experience with grooming them yourself? Thank you.

@@inhaleexhale I was in my 30s, working when i had one. Long hair were everywhere, despite hoovering. How patient are you? I had not much time but managed without getting her much matted. I wonder if these gloves with brush would be good enough. They need space, running. And something to keep their mind occupied. How about minimizing brushing issue by getting getting border collie? lol The maintenance can be a nuisance but once you fell in love with (any) dog, oxytocin hormone will work, and you may feel different about it. I would go for the dog I like.

We got our first RC in 2019. He’s the absolute best. Arlo. ❤

I’m getting my first collie tomorrow !

I added my Rough Collie to my home as a pup, he's now two. "Buddy" is my house companion, is loving, kind, and just a fantastic dog. Enjoy watching him, and he's just beautiful. Absolutely love everything about him ! 🐕💗

I had a black and white rough collie, he had broke his chain and jumped his pen to protect myself and brother and sister to protect us from a neighbors Malimut dog that was mean my dog and had broke his chain. Thunder was our hero! His long coat and long body the neighbor dog couldn't get a hold of him. Which gave our mom time to bring us in and the neighbor could get their dog and as soon the neighbor got a hold of , I called Thunder and he raced to the house. He was my first dog and when passed from heart worms I cried about a week. You see Thunder was my best friend too. I would kick a ball towards him and he kicked back, when I was sad he would cuddle with his head my lap. One day I hope to see him again.

My wonderful Lord Shayn Scott is so sweet! He is almost 10 years old with me in Rio de Janeiro. I love him very much.

My childhood pet was a rough collie. We named her Lola.

My first dog was a sable Rough Collie, now I have a blue merle💜

I have had five collies. I love them to no end.

I hate dogs.... but the one dog that maybe I could comparatively be okay with is a collie, and nobody wants them anymore. I saw them a lot when I was a kid. People prefer bully breeds and assorted filth.

I remember my grandma's Laddie would come to my crib a few times a night. The clickety clack of his claws was always comforting. Then sticking his beak thru the slats and getting snot all over my face.

I had a male rough Collie. Great breed!

I saw a roughie for the first time in forever today. I legit got dizzy staring at her from across the street. Full goblin stalker mode. 👀

My Collie get along well with all of our kitties and birds. He is a great dog but kind of acts like he owns the place.

My former neighbors had a female collie named Pebbles; she was a sable, like Lassie.

Except for grooming, our Collie is the easiest dog I’ve ever had. Very easy to train.

I’ve had three in my life. I told my wife she could have any dog she wanted as long as it was a Collie. She calls me a Collie snob. I’m proud of that!
