I think this is the very reason why Jen and David never went for it. I think they imagined how if they did and things went wrong, it would terribly affect the whole group. After admitting in the reunion that they in fact were into each other during these times, channeling their feelings over each other through Ross and Rachel is such a brilliant, mature and professional thing to do. I love these two, and of course the other four.

@Igi Ross is really narcissistic and manipulative in the last scene. he's blaming her for the situation without taking accountability for cheating (either his choice or he was taken advantage of, but never Rachel's fault). If he didn't pretend nothing happened and instead sat down to have a talk with Rachel before deciding to swipe everything under the rug, and told her he slept with another woman, that he was hurt about Mark, and that he was drink and irrational, maybe it would've been better. And in any case, he should've respected her decision. Instead, he's making himself look like a victim of circumstances, always someone else's fault, never his own. Rachel might have a lot of faults, but she has every right to feel broken and manipulated.

We can all agree how Rachel got destructive of Ross' relationships with Bonnie, Emily, etc. But the mess of their relationship wouldn't have happened if Ross just respected her from the start. As a girlfriend, she was patient and devoted to him. She was simply trying to build a career, which takes dedication and a little sacrifice of her social life. Look what could've happened if Ross gave her space? She was inviting friends to shows, going to galas that he could've gone with. Ross was worried he'd lose her to Mark, but never knew that even after she moved on to guys like Joshua, Ross was still her priority.

Regardless of the cheating issue, I think Ross did something much more terrible than that. He was so jealous and insecure of Mark to the point where he did things that is so inappropriate and made Rachel so embarrassed on her workplace. Being cheated on hurts like hell but what’s even worse was having a boyfriend who doesn’t trust you and gets insecure to a person who helps you succeed on your career instead of being supportive. If Rachel forgave Ross that time, she probably won’t have the chance to grow into a woman she wants to be.

Ross didn't cheat on Rachel. Here is my whole analysis of them, I need to get it off my chest because I think the most mainstream opinion of them by mostly younger fans, is very unfair to Ross. Ross slept with Chloe because he was mad and drunk, and heartbroken after his fight with Rachel, but he never really wanted to. And he didn't cheat because Rachel broke up with him, and that is a FACT not up for debate. People who still debate this are the ones who didn't pay attention to what was happening on screen or have a clear, biased agenda against Ross. The next morning after their fight, in the next episode, Rachel literally tells Monica that she broke up with Ross, and then she goes to Ross's apartment and asks Ross if she can be his girlfriend again. Why would she do that if she didn't break up with him? These are literally scenes and lines of dialog that did happen, so it's a fact that she did break up with Ross. Ross also keeps repeating this to Joey and Chandler - that he and Rachel are broken up - when they are all at the bar before Ross sleeps with Chloe. So if Rachel broke up with Ross, and Ross had it clear, him sleeping with Chloe wasn't cheating no matter how you want to twist it. Again - I don't say it wasn't a mistake, it was. But it was an honest human mistake many of us would make in this situation. And let's talk about the whole context here. The fact is also, that Ross was drunk and vulnerable, and was an easy target for Chloe. Yes, Chloe made a first move on Ross, and she used him! Just imagine how different would be the comments, if the situation was in reverse: so drunk, vulnerable girl at the bar, and a fully sober guy making a move on her. Chloe used Ross, Ross never did it because he truly wanted it and was conscious about it, so he never hurt Rachel on purpose, and he regretted it right after. This is why, for me, Rachel should forgive him, and eventually, she did and came back to him. Because she understood Ross never wanted to hurt her and he did everything for Rachel throughout the show. Now let's talk about Rachel's toxic behavior so many people seem to gloss over. First, I remember the season 7 episode where Rachel has a crush on her assistant Tag and wants to sleep with him because she found out Tag had just broken up with his girlfriend. There's a scene where Rachel asks Monica and Phoebe when it's okay to sleep with a guy who is fresh after a breakup, and Phoebe replies that she once did it an hour after a guy broke up with his ex, and Monica, Rachel, and Phoebe all laugh, and it's cool. So they literally describe the situation that was between Ross and Rachel and Chloe, and yet they don't consider it cheating and Rachel wants to do it. And people DARE to write that Ross was in the wrong. No, it all proves that Rachel was an insufferable hypocrite. Ross openly and honestly told Rachel about his concerns about Mark - and it turned out later that Ross was right, Mark wanted to date Rachel and was romantically interested in her. Also, Ross loved Rachel more than his life, but he was already traumatized by Carol, who was his wife, not a girlfriend, but a wife - and she betrayed him! Rachel had zero empathy for Ross and didn't understand that his fear and jealousy stemmed from trauma. Rachel didn't have time for Ross either, was lost in her work, so it wasn't like it was all Ross' fault, but Rachel didn't want to take any responsibility for their problems, ever. Anyway, Ross begged for forgiveness, Rachel didn't want to give him a chance back then. And then she played with his heart. First, she wouldn't give him a chance, then she ruined every relationship he had, attacked Bonnie, Emily, etc., went to his wedding to break it up, messing with his head, telling him that she still loved him after he was married. Even before all of this, Rachel did bad things when she was jealous: attacking Julie, openly sabotaging Julie's relationship with Ross, and kissing Ross when he was with Julie. So, in fact, Rachel did way more worse and toxic things out of jealousy and possessiveness than Ross ever did! Yet people seem to not remember it, they only talk about Ross's jealousy, never Rachel's! The irony. I also, again, never liked that Joey and Chandler were at the bar with Ross at the beginning, they saw he was in a bad state, drinking, and he told them Rachel broke up with him, so they knew he could do smth he will regret, yet they let him drink and left him alone! Bad call! They should have taken him home, period!! Also: Rachel was angry about 'the list' and Ross saying she was 'just a waitress' yet Rachel mocks Ross's profession literally during the whole show, and cruelly!! And the 'funniest' thing is, Chandler was actually the one whose idea the list was, it was never Ross's idea in the first place. Chandler proposed it and just started to write it, yet he never gets any heat or criticism for having this idea. Or Joey for that matter, for saying Rachel has 'fat ankles' which ended up on the list, and what Ross never said, it was Joey. Overall the list was a silly thing between the guys and never serious, just for comedy, but the fact is Chandler invented it, not Ross but ofc only Ross gets hate for it. And that isn't a problem according to Rachel's hypocritical fans.

This is why communication is important. You can't tell your bf/gf "maybe we should take a break." That just means " I don't want to be in a relationship with you for the time being but you can't be in a relationship with anyone else". They should have said something like" we've be arguing and fighting a lot and it needs to stop. Let's take some time to cool off. We're not ending the relationship but just giving each other time to really gather our thoughts so we can solve this problem we're in

Thats why he wants peace, he wants to return, to get back to the previous moment he screwed up everything. HE KNOWS HE SCREWED UP EVERYTHING, THAT HE IS RESPONSIBLE. He can not accept that theres nothing he can do. Nothing is nothing. He wants her so much, he wants her to forgive him, to recover the relationship. These things take some time, as simple as that.

He was with Carol for 7 years and almost slept with Phoebe on a pool table the night she ended their marriage. Some people have different coping mechanisms to try to erase grief & depression. Rachel went to the airport to get with Ross but he got off the plane with Julie, then she went & slept with Palo that same night. She did that pretty fast when she was gonna confess to loving another man just a few hours prior. Joey & Chandler told Ross to get a drink, he did just that & Chloe was throwing herself at him and he was brushing her off but relented & agreed to 1 dance to make her go away. Plus he'd called Rachel's apartment only to find out she had Mark over soon after & she got caught lying about it. We know that she's innocent but Ross isn't a mind-reader & Rachel wasn't showing trustworthy behavior to him. Same with Ross x Emily. He says Rachel's name in their vows, then she arrives at the airport to see him going on *their* honeymoon flight with the same women whose name he said. Ross was innocent but he stupidly put himself in a compromising position for his partner to get the wrong idea.

Infidelity ( or whatever this qualifies as) is such a destructive thing to a relationship. I applaud couples who can move on from it but I think the only way I could would be amnesia. The thing about whether they were on a break or not she clearly says it right there, it was a break, they both agree that it was a break and I think it's completely unnecessary for people to keep fighting about it because they say it right there in the video. The actual problem is that even after she finds out he slept with another woman, he for some reason thinks she doesn't have a right to be upset, he expects for everything to go back to normal. He was always a very toxic person in the show, from not respecting her career, not being happy that she is making a name for herself and inviting him to places shes happy in like the galas but at the same time expecting her to go to him to museum events with him. Always being jealous and thinking that the only reason someone from her work helps her through a tough situations just so that they have sex with her, thinking being a nanny is a "strange" profession for a man when it's actually a very respectable profession and him indicating that during that episode (i don't remember which one) is very sexist of him. Even at 1:58 where he says he though he should have told her but then blames. Joey and Chandler for keeping him from telling her just goes to say the type of guy he is, he blames his friends for having him keep it a secret, he should have just told her instead of putting the blame on someone else, especially her in 2:25 when he gets defensive because she doesn't say anything to him, she is just simply trying to process the situation in a clam manner and he just goes and gets mad.
