Rory Sutherland, the Master of Madfest, on why behavioural science should get awards

LIVE from Cannes, third time returning guest Rory Sutherland gives us his views on just how good this year’s Festival of Creativity is, what should be awarded, AI vs AI, what we should be looking for as marketeers in current trends and the value that behavioural science brings to creativity.
He also talks about what he is looking forward to on the road to another great festival - Madfest. And why he is doing his Mad Masters course.

They might be SOME overlap between behavioral science and marketing but it is overstated. Most of this is wishy-washy, overly academic hogwash that isn't all that relevant to doing good marketing.

Hard disagree there. Knowing why people make the decisions they make is fundamental to good marketing. It's more relevant for comms than the other areas of marketing, maybe (there's only so much behavioural science that you can apply to pricing, for example), but given the almost pathological lack of empathy most marketers have for the people they are trying to sell stuff too, anything that can improve this is going to be welcome

Rory is off the mark on the whole EV . If he were to look at the statistics in the United States they don't bear out what hes saying . In the UK with it's much smaller land mass it may work but in the United States our driving habits are substantially different
