I think Death Battle can live without Rooster Teeth. They've been paid funds to continue their show for so long, I wouldn't be surprised if they have some left to keep it going. Granted, this does not mean they can live off of JUST the funds. They have to at some point create other ways to keep the machine going such as the merch they were originally selling, memberships like they've recently implemented as well as others such as PAtreon and other live events so they can take advantage of superchats and donations.

Screwattack is an entirely different conversation, as Craig wants to buy back the right just so he can post his old content again, it has nothing to do with Death Battle anymore.

It’s honestly sad to see Roosterteeth fall so low. What started out as something indie between best friends transformed into what’s basically the Cyberpunk 2077 corporations. Death Battle was honestly the last thing they had going for them, Rwby is far beyond it’s glory days, Red vs Blue was the same until the. Announcement of the final season and not to mention the various drama and sick stuff that has happened. This is a true textbook example of a Rise and Fall. I feel even more bad for Og Roosterteeth fans who grew up with videos like Dead Fantasy and Haloid

I've been let down way too many times in entertainment and all things life for that tbh.

I wonder if the main problem of moving forward is whether or not Death Battle has the funds to keep moving forward, or whether or not Death Battle has the rights to continue their show

I always appreciate your videos, they give me a second lens into things and can usually fix a stupid outlook I have. I was all like "Bu-bu deathbattle might end! :((((" and I did just realize how stupid i'm being, my words wouldn't mean much but I do hope the best for everyone working at deathbattle.

Thank you for making this video. It helped me know what to do as a fan!

Some personal experience on this, the way I found out was scrolling on social media, followed by stress that my close friend OriginTheHero was *possibly* gonna be out of the job. Me and him are a part of a friend group with 2-3 other people who worked on Smash Bracket, all of us hang out and sometimes play games together. Anyway, the #1 concern I had wasn't about the show going away, what mattered was my friend and his livelihood being taken away from him. All that matters at this moment is how my friend is doing and if there's anything I can do to help.

I agree with everything that you said, although I'm part of the DB community, I don't have membership yet but I'll try my best to support anyone that works on the show.

it's terrifying not knowing the outcome and even more terrifying knowing that people could be out of a job, but that's just it, "could" the fear of death is one that hits many people and it's at its height when it's uncertain if it will happen soon, but all we can do is stay strong and try to help those who need it not for the sake of sake of what we love, but for the sake of those responsible for it

Well, Death Battle was indie before RT, so I belive that they can go indie again, I would expect the quality of the next episodes going down in terms of animation and sound, but I would expect it, also they may take longer to make the episodes since it may not be the full team, but I could wait.

This amazing show, and the equally amazing, if not moreso, dedicated people who bring it to life have been a part of my life since I graduated high school. I for one am holding on to hope that they can bounce back from this, and they can keep on doing what they love best!

I wouldn't be surprised if Death Battle ended up similar to Drawfee, which seemed to be facing doom during College Humor's shut down at the start of 2020 but was able to end up as it own solo entity thanks to fan support and they only had a bit over 1.3 million subs at that point meanwhile DB has 5.7M currently

I can't say anything about the situation that other people haven't already said, but what i can say is this about the community: regardless of what happens, we all will still be here, vs isn't going anywhere. Just trying to give a bit of optimism in these times

I genuinely think it’s unlikely that Death Battle stops. They were independent before and they have ways of making money solo

If this is the end of DB, I think it's symbolic that they went out with Galactus beating Unicron.

Whatever the Aftermath of the End of Rooster Teeth is, the only answer is that it’s Unclear, all we can do is be Patient and prepare ourselves for what’s coming Next.

Hard to saw what exactly will happen going forward. The best we could assume for the immediate moment is that if those who put DB together hasn't gotten any word yet, there maybe a slight hope that it can spin off and become its own channel and not tied to anyone. Still, that would also mean that the cost for the show would likely take a nosedive in comparison to where it was for these last few seasons. Still, one could hope and assume that if perhaps another group wanted to pick up Death Battle, that could be a possibility too (albeit who knows if something like this could happen in the future as well). Still, it is what you said that regardless of the outcome, the best we can hope for is those who have been affected and that they will be able to bounce back from this. Still, it is really bizarre how it feels like WB is just imploding in on itself with so many bizarre choices that it feels like they are literally going anti-consumer for the same of turning a profit. So much so that it is kind of impressive there hasn't been more investigations launched against the company with how they are literally closing up so many projects (even if they were 90%-95% done) and writing all of them off for taxes. Hell, pointing out WB trying to sell off Rooster Teeth IPs is another prime example. It just feels like WB is just trying to turn profit by any means at this point and if it isn't "easy money," they don't want to hear it. Would explain why there is a sudden interest in Live Service titles over Single Player (in spite of having Hogwarts being the literal top selling game last year), and how in spite of all the shows getting canceled, the one everyone wanted to see canceled got a second season with no updates that they are cancelling Velma's second season (for as much as people want to see that happen). This whole situation is a bloody mess and a disaster. Really does feel like WB can not be trusted with literally anything at this point.

Death battle gets millions of views per episode and that should be enough for them to support themselves on their own. The biggest potential issue is the copyright of death battle as a show and of course the fact that they use copyrighted characters in their battles.

I'm just hoping that everyone who was working on db can continue to support themselves

HOLY SHIT! I completely forgot about death battle when I heard about the shut down! If there was anything still good associated with them, it was DEFINITELY death battle! A big part of my KZread nostalgia! It, for one, was quite the educational intro for many characters for me and a great refresher on those I was familiar with. And the matchups were usually quite conceptually interesting even if I hated the outcome of some fights!

Though it was a huge mistake to bring the “fight director” in to do RVB Zero. The season felt like a reflection of death battle: awesome fights, no story. Then again, nobody watches death battle for the “how” of the fight, just an awesome “what if” encounter with characters using their full range of capabilities.

I've seen people celebrate the fall of Rooster Teeth, and I gotta say that's the wrong way of looking at this. Well some of them are. Like, the current people working on RWBY are NOT the original people who worked on RWBY. Most of them were fired for standing up to the new gods or just left out of disgust. A lot of the employees you're talking about don't work for RoosterTeeth anymore due to the increasingly terrible conditions, hence why everyone's so happy about the company's demise overall. It's sad that the Death Battle crew have to be included in this, but they might be able to make it on their own and they're quite literally the only good thing left about RoosterTeeth.

"they might have done it sooner" Death Battle was made by ScrewAttack, and when that shut down and merged with Rooster Teeth, Death Battle went along with it. DB couldn't become independent back then because the agreement was to merge every SA asset with RT, including DB. But now with RT gone, this is now their best chance to go indie.

Personally I'm more concerned about Rooster Teeth and their Death Battle "exclusives" and DBX "alt endings" only being available on it. Once it's shut down, there's no way you'd get access to them. I hope RT would still let you watch all of the videos on it or at least reupload all of them on another site

While content and quality are going to take a hit, I don't think Death Battle is going to end. Everyone is forgetting that Death Battle was never created by Rooster Teeth, but acquired by them after they were already established, and Rooster Teeth was still Screw Attack. With 10 seasons, 14 years, and almost 200 episodes, Death Battle is too big and to strongly established to go down with the Rooster Teeth ship. It might be hard for a while, but they will endure, survive, and recover.

Craig says he wants to buy back ScrewAttack/Death Battle. Dunno how likely that is. He mostly wants to so he can repost/archive the entirety of ScrewAttacks video library. Whether or not DB would continue under him or if the crew would even want to work for him is anyones guess.

Honestly, I'm quite optimistic for how the Death Battle team will be able to handle this after the Escapist situation a few months back. I know it's not an apples to apples comparison as the folks at The Escapist willingly walked out and were prepared to jump ship for a while, while Rooster Teeth blindsided everyone. However, given how much people still care about Death Battle, both from the fans and the creators themselves (Ben's tweet gives me quite a bit of hope), I do think they have a good shot of making it through as long as the community continues supporting them.

If they end the show deadpool and pinkie pie need to narrate the final episode.

Death battle is constantly pulling numbers and thanks to merch, sponsors, and memberships they should be able to stay afloat long enough to either get on their own feet or to be taken in by a new company as it would be stupid to not take in such a profitable ip

They could always go back to Screw Attack.

My bet is that they take time to pick up the pieces and restructure as a solo show. I think it's way too popular to just go away. We'll see what the future holds.

I remember i was a Rooster Teeth First subscriber for sometime. Canceled my membership cuz they took away the only perk i cared about. Seems like a huge mismanagment situation over there.

I could see them just continuing their podcast but with maybe less research so the fans can get all the analyzation and talk about the match without them having to pay for VAs and animators, there's also the route of using A.I to supplement their work, would just need someone to touch it up, and it would be ethical since they could train it on their own content.

I was wondering why death battle hadn’t come back now I know

I'm not really a fan of DB, but it will 100% go on without RT. They were doing their thing before Screwattack got bought out by RT. They will just isolate them as their own brand. It always did super well for a web series, and unless the creators want to sunset the project because they see it as a good jumping off point, there's no reason for them to just stop. Even then, Warner might just put new people on it. It's a lucrative series, and now without all the bloat of RT Warner might actually make some money on their investment.

DB is probably the safest as it has been the most self relying. RWBY will probably get picked up by CR or Netflix although I saw Dillon Goo ask about buying it on twitter as he used to work on it before. That would definitely be great if that happened. I'm more worried about camp camp,RVB and The stinky dragon. Were will they end up if they land anywhere.

I'm hoping RWBY will get picked up just to see it get a conclusive ending. Binging it like I did, I was actually pleasantly surprised with how many things there were to like even after Volume 3, and I think it deserves to see its story through.

I know RT houses Death Battle, but does WB like…own Death Battle? I really don’t believe Death Battle is going down with RT, like Chad said they’ve been apart of multiple different companies and I would think Ben deliberately would include it in contract that he owns the rights to the show he created and built. It’s just crazy to me if Ben signed away the show proper to RT when joining.

I’m glad RT is dead. Hated how it’s been run for the last couple years and how they treated both their staff and their customer base. I’m not at all sad it’s gone. For DB however, I think they have enough of a foothold in the community to go indie and be supported by their own brand. Remember, it started off as a side project by Ben many years ago until it got picked up by RT. There’s really o reason why they can’t support themselves. Basically do what the people from Second Wind did after they left The Escapist. So I’m personally not worried. If however they don’t go indie and they drown with RT too, then I feel they had a good run. They left enough of a legacy to be remembered fondly and there’s plenty of rip-off style copycats around KZread and across the internet to take up the mantle anyway. So if it’s the end of DB, then I salute the, for so much entertainment for the last 15 years.

Honestly, whilst I can see DEATH BATTLE being able to survive, knowing Rooster Teeth they will have to fight in order to not be taken down with the sinking ship out of spite, there are a multitude of ways this can go down. A)This is the end, and DEATH BATTLE is forced to shut down without a Season 11 B) Season 11 is the final season and we end on a finale of Wiz Vs. Boomstick. C) Season 11 is a much shorter season in comparison to Seasons 10 & 9 in order to adapt to the new budgets they can gather from Patreon and other means. But the series continues. D) DEATH BATTLE becomes self efficient with sponsors & such, and the series goes on for another few years as planned. E) DEATH BATTLE as a brand dies, but something else is born out of the ashes to fill that void.

They have been around before rooster teeth when they were screwattack lol. People would pay them. I really don’t care about rooster teeth but I did watch rwby as bad as it has gotten and death battle which really hasn’t used anyone I really liked in awhile. But I’m sure they will figure it out. If I was a company the last person I would work for is WB they save a lot of small companies but if they are extremely profitable instead of leaving them alone they get involved and ruin them. RT was doing it themselves for awhile now tho they peaked years ago

Death battle can go independent. They are big enough and have a big community that will support them.

I’ll be honest I’m just happy rwby is getting sold, maybe it’ll find itself in the hands of someone who can actually write. Red vs blue though, I’ll sincerely miss it.

Studdering Craig did say ,in his podcast (side scrollers), that he is intersted in rebuying screwattack(death battle).

One reason they might not be including Death Battle in the shows they want to sell is that Death Battle is kind of weird if you look at it as an actual professional show, rather than just an internet thing, since the whole premise is that they do not really own the rights to use, so whatever company they're trying to sell the rights to might see this as a lawsuit waiting to happen.

@@PauloJrchannel that doesn't make them professional, lmao. Professional is based on attitude towards the job, and how skillful and efficient you are at the job. A "professional" news cast can still hire idiots who are unqualified for the job and make stuff up as they go ontop of having real poor attitudes. Example being the London news woman who trash talked a teen for winning at Tetris(a feat that has never been done even since the game came out 40 years ago) The only thing that can be even slightly professional is their attitude. Even then, they been seen stoking fires by joking about how "fanboy would rage" in some of their vids. So no, they aren't even close to professionals.

This isn't a profession to them, it's just a means to make money, and they don't do proper research, base points off theories, and joke about fanboys not liking their results. They are neither engaged with or qualified for their "profession".
