The first thing it's going to heat n then burn is the plastic sheeting of the wire used to power it needs a better design

Yeah if the wires had been pulled out from the very back. That would have helped. You could put a cigarette lighter type plug and use it in your car.

I noticed that also. BTW the easiest way to make a cheap low voltage heater, is the following. Look on Ebay at the 100w gold coloured resistors, these are aluminium and you mount them to heatsinks, these are only like 2 dollars each, buy 3 of these resistors. Don't buy heatsinks, unless you can get them cheap offline, but instead try to look for existing heatsinks in old electronics, you will find heatsinks in all sorts of electronics like old computer power supplies, or on old motherboards. Now you want to get around 3 heatsinks, and attach the 3 100w resistors to them with thermal glue, or you can use thermal grease and simply screw them onto the heatsinks if you want. Now you straight away have 300w of low voltage heating. All you need is a power supply to connect to it. I don't suggest using batteries or even professional DC power supplies, because you will be wasting your money. I actually suggest using a simple transformer, to change the 240v to a 12.6v low voltage. It is true that the transformer will not make it DC, it just becomes low voltage AC, but it doesn't matter as you can use AC with resistors and it works just the same, therefore just use the low voltage AC as your power source. To get transformers easily, you will find them on old computer power supplies. Obviously get one that is capable of outputting more power than you will be drawing, so a 400w+ one will be good to constantly power the 300w setup we just talked about. This entire setup, assuming you have an old computer power supply to get the free transformer out of, this entire setup would only cost around 6-7 dollars to build. And it's beauty is it's simplicity, store bought heaters have many parts and often fail. However simple resistors and transformers nearly never fail because of their simplicity, so your heater will work practically forever.
