Are you in the dfw market.

In Florida a contractor can not advises for roofing , they can sub it but can not advertise unless they have their own license

Licensing should be in all states Here in Texas no licensing, however Rcat Is issuing a bullshit license number and some contractors are advertising that they are licensed and placing the rcat emblem with state of Texas on their yard signs. Which gives the appearance that it’s a State Texas government issue license

It is very easy to get a roofing license in Illinois now. They have a class u can pay for that gives u the answers to the test. Most of the guys I know have did this. When I obtained my license 12 years ago this wasn't available so I did it the old fashioned way.

Here in Michigan you can have what's called a qualifying officer. They don't even have to be employed by the company. I think it's total b.s..roofing company owners should be licensed and have to do the competency testing hours to maintain the license. Instead they use someone's else license and give them a kickback or percentage of the roofing project.

I am licensed in Florida but even subs need to be licensed.

I think both parties were in the right. Roofer was trying to protect his market from scammers and poor workmanship. Hess Roofing just jump the gun a little bit and should've had a license number on there. But most licensed roofers have a problem doing this as well. Great content 👍👍

In IL, both the contractor and subcontractor have to be licensed. It’s actually written into the law that if you use another persons license you will get charged with fraud

A general contractor can sell a roof and then give it a roofer with license so technically the person who is doing the roof only has to be licensed.

​@@awesom-o1570but he has to have a builder's specialty on his license if he doesn't have a builder's license then all of his workers have to be licensed. In my state if the builder does a job or a roof project valuing over $5,000 best subcontractor must be licensed.

@mikeylopez9625 in illinois there is no GC licensing tho.....except for the city of Chicago. Each city had there little rules and regulations too bit for the most part there is no licensing for being a GC.....

In the eyes of home owner, he got on the news and it wasn’t negative. I think he should mind his business and he looked dumb because no laws were broken but regardless

If this guy is worried about leveling the playing field, maybe illegals and Amish should be included but he should probably mind his own business.

@@RoofingInsights3.0 there is no sort of problem at all. They work a LOT in our communities and often have young children working, as do people without papers to work here. If we are going to worry about something as legally petty as a license while we don’t care about child exploitation, then we have our priorities seriously twisted. Furthermore, no one likes a snitch, especially when it is a competitor. It’s just dirty business and I’m glad that Mr. Hess had his affairs in order and was operating legally because the snitch looks like a serious Karen now and I would never hire, or do business with such a person.

This is such a hater move. First off he knew damn well that construction company has been around and just added the roofing to their service list. See a true player in the game would not give a crap about their competition or “unfair advantages “. If you’re a true business person then you know that things are not fair and the only way to win is to be the best at your craft and business. That’s it! In other words mind your business.

Licenses are a joke. People lie and pay someone to get their license for them all the time. I think what's more important are the inspections. Most inspectors don't even do their job. It's all about money.

He has more experience than you'll ever have. It seems that you support unlicensed and uninsured individuals. We can't even consider them contractors because they lack the appropriate specialty license. It also seems like you are rooting for the individual without a license while simultaneously criticizing the roofer for doing the right thing by not only whistleblowing but also trying to inform the customer. Therefore, I am unsubscribing, and I hope other contractors see Dimitri's true intentions. He should clearly state that what the other contractor is doing is wrong. They are likely cutting corners because they do not have to pay for workman's comp liability and all the other overhead costs that come with running a roofing company that possesses all the necessary tools for proper operation.
