To be fair, the adoption reveal was unintentional. The dirt was supposed to be the possession of marihuana. He didn't know that Jerry was unaware of the fact that he was adopted.

@@jockmcscottish7569 the big deal is hte never knowing until then, he literally thought they were his birth parents until that moment, and regardless of how good they were to him (they obviously were, because Jerry has a GREAT life) it's still uncomfortable and possibly painful to learn you were lied to your entire life.

...after all these years, I think I've settled that Tom's Green Card wedding is a bigger secret than Duke Silver. Tom's secret didn't just affect him. His wife could've faced a lot of consequences if she didn't keep up appearances. Ron's alter-ego is just about his own privacy. Frankly a lot of people have hobbies we wouldn't want our co-workers to know about.

Jerry finds out he’s adopted, spends the rest of his time on the show praying for his retirement, then he becomes mayor of Pawnee and makes it all comes full circle

And Jerry was the only one who ran for office that played the game.

Does anyone know why it's cropped so weird at 0:05? In the episode it's basically just the same shot as at 0:19, but for this KZread upload they zoomed in one Tom for that part weirdly leaving part of the screen black. But left the whole shot at 0:19.

Depending on the circumstances of the adoption and disposition of the bio-parents, I can see circumstances where the adoptee would only suffer pain from the revelation and get nothing positive out of it. Knowing things just to know them can be a trap.

I think child psychologists and psychologists in general say telling your child(ren) that they are adopted very early on is hugely beneficial. It helps children realize that adoption isn’t shameful, and that they are loved by their parent(s). It also prevents complex medical scenarios.
