Brennan's response to the goal said it all. He's been put under massive pressure by the fans, which is ironic, because Ange's way is to remove the fear of mistakes. The fans have definitely gone nuclear in the other direction and really need to get off his back, and just let him play with joy and develop.

Cannot get my head around people getting on Johnsons case, he's been here 5 minutes and is a kid. Remind me how long it took Balw to come good?

Johnson is fast and he stays wide, same with Werner on the left. That's what Ange wants tactically. It stretches the defence and creates space in the middle (which you need when you have inverted full backs arriving) and is key to how we play. Son and Kulu are great in those positions but they cut inside all the time and it's not ideal tactically. For that reason I think you are now less likely to see Son and Kulu start together but rather have Johnson or Werner accompany one of them to maintain some of that width. You'll note when he brought Son on for Werner he replaced Kulu with Johnson. As with all his previous teams, Ange works with what he has got then starts singling out very specific, seemingly random players to bring in. They have the exact skill set he needs to allow his system to reach it's full potential. Johnson is such a player.

💯 agree regarding Ange’s comments on Sonny and South Korea. It is that it is much harder to come from South Korea and be considered world class in Europe. Ange knows this coming from Australia. There is a significant bias against players or managers coming from non-European countries. It is extremely hard to break into Europe. Look at Xabi Alonso. He has one successful season coaching in the Bundesliga and people are talking about him being Liverpool or Real Madrid’s manager. He looks like a good young coach, but enough to coach Liverpool? This is the bias in play. Ange knows this well. When he came to Celtic pundits laughed at him (go and watch Alan Brazil). When he came to Spurs initially there was #postecoglouout This is the bias. But anyway, spurs have been smart enough to bring in Postecoglou and the fans have been smart enough to see the quality he brings and get behind him. Same with Sonny.

Our winning goal was pure beauty. Son 's pass was exquisite drilling the ball to Johnson with no room for error. Johnson's finish was also brilliant hitting the ball high into the net giving the keeper no chance. Bentancur we must not forget has only recently recovered from a significant injury so psychologically that's not easy when playing. . However he rode several tackles in the build up to our equaliser with his pass to Kule from my memory. We suffered several anxious moments with Brighton but the manner of that last minute win can only boost the players morale. Congratulations AG

I think Sarr is probably one of the most underrated players in the EPL right now, was there any of the pitch he didn't cover? The reaction time for him to score his goal was pretty impressive he crosses, incerceprion bounces off the post and off his wrong foot he bangs it home. I'm not normally picking a man of the match but I think he deserved it yesterday but Romero was outstanding as well. Great job as always, take care of yourself and above all else happy anniversary.

The negativity towards him is horrible. How lucky are we to see how he grows and develops. That being said, I do agree with Postecoglu about the first half of the match. An identity that is becoming addictive And only 6 months in. Then there’s the young players we have coming in and already in our academy. I think you raised a good point about Bentancur. He seemed so good after coming back from injury twice, the current average form from him has been a bit of a surprise. He rarely gives the ball away, has such vision and great feet. Not so much the last 3 or 4 games and teams are pressing us hard. Brighton played very similarly to us. I think midfield has been the area we have struggled. Players like Hojberg or Skipp swapped around. Sarr and Bissouma were away and Maddison also not at his brilliant best yet. Wolves could be a very tricky test on Saturday. I can see them muscling Vicario and I was unsure why Brighton didn’t do that. Wolves won at Chelsea last time. Happy Anniversary to you and the Mrs. Enjoy the break 👌

Does anyone think Spurs should go after Mitoma hard? I feel like Mitoma is a very good attacking dribbler into the box. If he can do that for Spurs and pass to Sonny and others, Spurs will have another dangerous weapon. I wonder if Brighton would be willing to part with Mitoma. You are right that Maddison should be a TV football pundit, but I think Sonny should become an ambassador for Korea after he retires. He's too smart and diplomatic to just remain in the football world. Also, he's tri-lingual.

He’s not long signed a new four year contract so he would be expensive. He is 27 in May. He plays where Son does. I’m sure he could play right wing. With the options we have like Johnson and Kulusevski, it makes more sense to blood a young player for that side. I think although Richarlison is doing much better, we need a striker more. You need two and more options there. If you find someone better than Richarlison, he could still have some games left and right wing when needed.

Remarkable result considering Madders missed 11 ganes with injury. Richi has been playing with a chonic groin injury for 8 months until Ange madates he has surgery on Nov 7 and takes 4 weeks to recover and reset. Richi current form post surgery has been outstanding. Son missed 5 games due to Asian Cup duties. This is not luck

I have attended two matches so far this season, Sheffield United and Brighton, both last gasp winners. I don't know if that makes me a good jinx or a bad jinx. Great atmosphere at the end. The main difference in the first half was how Brighton were much more effective in their high press, with extreme one to one marking. Our press just wasn't intense enough which I think is what Ange aluded to in post match interviews. Much better second half and we just about deserved the victory. Just. This group now need to train together again and over the next two weeks to hopefully get back to our best.

Hi Ali - there was a stat that Brighton hadn’t lost for about 32 games after going ahead so that’s some record we managed to overturn and definitely result outweighed performance in the end. A big 3 points and if we can manage to get over the line against wolves too then I’d say it’s been a really good run of games against all tricky opponents, even Everton result would look better if they didn’t have their 10pt deduction.

4 sons. Hahaha. Thinking about what you said regarding Brennan's nerves. You're right. Chances are that he may never again , in his career, receive a ball so beautifully executed. Being Australian, i'd already had my weird issue with Son contributing to disappointment one week and then, instant elation , the following week. Watching the replays of the pass , i was gobsmacked at the miniscule margin for error . At some point in life, we all have this happy fluke, where our judgement is impeccably pin-point for a moment in time. Was it a lucky fluke ? , or is he just THAT good ? I've seen quite a few of his international matches , where he doesn't shine at the same level as he did in this game. He seems somehow, happier on the pitch with Spurs . Maybe there's magic in the players you're surrounded by ?

In reguard to Johnson. He's young and there are areas he needs to work on if he wants to be a winger. A ball played in front of him to run onto he's good. Ball played to his feet to take a player on it struggles. In Anges system he needs to do more defensive work when we lose the ball. Coaches will be working on that. At the moment, he is best as an impact player.

For inspiration and true guidance on proper technique as a younger footballer nobody better than Son he makes it look effortless and with both feet. In KZread you can slow mo and just break down stuff in ideal form. Crazy if we had that in our development years. KZread and son highlights you can learn so much

I would not call the youtubers and the keyboard warriors that are abusing Brendan Johnson real fans, real fans cheer there own players and ecourage there players to play better to help the team.

Preach. It’s been awful watching Spurs YT lately because it’s been all negative to what seems one player.

I think it’s such a shame about BJ too, don’t know many other fanbases where a player that scored a last minute winner like that wouldn’t be love bombed by the fans. No, it wasn’t an amazing game from him apart from the goal, in fact it was pretty poor but he was there at the right time and finished the chance off, not exactly a tap in. The criticism unfortunately comes because some of our fans really want a narrative that all our big money signings are flops and the majority of our fanbase are “applauding mediocrity” because we’re starved of success. You can keep those opinions as much as you want but it’s a shame that you almost cannot praise a player without being seen as “settling for mediocrity”. His performances have been a mixed bag but he didn’t have a preseason with us, he had shorter time to learn the system, he got two nasty injuries and who knows? Maybe those are the reason he looks so hesitant at times. Maybe he’s afraid of engaging in duels because it gave him a nasty cut on his forehead and maybe he’s afraid of sprinting because he doesn’t fully trust his hamstrings. I definitely don’t think the abuse has helped any and whatever someone says, players ARE affected by abuse. If you want to send abuse, please think twice, so you think the player is unaware that he had a poor game? Do you think it will strengthen the player’s confidence? Do you think it will motivate the player to play even better if he gets pelted by fans for every mistake? It won’t’! He can’t do anything about his price tag we chose to pay but sometimes you’re paying for high potential and I see a player that can fit Ange’s style perfectly if he improves and first and foremost, his confidence improves.

Thanks, Alasdair for another entertaining video. Late goals - what goes around comes around! Never a dull moment with Spurs, but I’m with Madison in longing for a real easy 3-0 win. Good to have more of the players available but I feel sorry for guys like Gil, Scarlett and Donley not even making the bench. I would like to see at least one young player on the bench, so that if Spurs are well on top they could be given some time on the pitch. Sin-bins and blue cards in football are so obviously a bad idea that you just know that those in charge will being them in. 😒 Congratulations on your 20th wedding anniversary and hope you both enjoy the weekend.

Hi Aly! Great stuff as always! One thing that might help when you’re struggling with the word Brommapojkarna is that the word “Pojkarna” in Swedish means “boys”…sooo it’s basically “the Bromma boys” if you do kind of a straight translate ;) or just BP. Keep up the good work!
