I’ve watched Ange’s teams play football since he started coaching South Melbourne Hellas. Know his football inside out. I’d say it was the 4th game this season he’s responsible for. Poor performance, team selection and game tactics. However, what people fail to understand, he won’t change. Spurs board knew what they were getting. Angeball is a double edged sword. It’s high risk high reward football. I hate to harp on, but you lost the world’s best striker a week before the start of the season, so many loud voices predicted failure. They were flying up until the mayhem that unfolded v Chelsea. Since then they’ve been doing ‘ok’. There’s an identity. It just takes time. But seriously, some of the toxic garbage I’ve seen from so called Spurs fans on twitter has been insane, and mostly from the ENIC OUT brigade; who seem to have a greater hatred for the owners than their love for the club. People really need to touch grass. They’ll bounce back and fix things. The season isn’t over, have faith.

I’m one of the Levy out brigade, and knowing full well he won’t walk. I’m happy being the Levy out brigade , just to put pressure on him to get things right. With Ange I feel he has got this right. Bringing in people who know football more than Levy is good. Let’s face it, Levy should just supply the cash and leave the penny pinching out of negotiations. Levy IS to blame for past recruitment, Bale wasted money comes to mind. COYS

It's the same fans that are crying out now that Ange is foolhardy. That 10 weeks in were thinking we were gonna win the league. God knows what they'll be thinking in March. 😂😂 I see Postegoglu really pushing/pulling the team in one direction. Let's pray that levy keeps believing.. I truly believe that levy and postegoglu can make something memorable happen better still....it is being built to be sustainable not just a quick smash and grab. I have to believe they want the club to reflect the stadium...and the players earning the right to play there. 🎉🎉🎉 Love your analysis as always! Thanks again

You're right Mr G, wise words, we have to be patient. Yes, we were flying at the start of the season but this was a bit of a false Dawn. Because a) we had few injuries. but b) Ange's style took the opposition by surprise. Now, we have the opposite: an unprecedented run of injuries, and most of the Premier League has worked out the best way to deal with us (nothing to be too ashamed about because they are learning what to do with Man. City too). It's apparent that Ange teams improve a lot in a second season, my only worry is - will that hold true in the best league of all?

When players of the calibre of Son, Maddison, Bissouma, Kulu, Bentancur, Sarr, have below par days , it’s not the Ange system that is failing, it’s the execution that has stagnated. Once the fluidity slowly returns the results and performance will skyrocket. It’s been a disjointed season that will come together again. Our fan base is prone to explosions and implosions.

Thanks, Ali. Happy Anniversary. Glad you enjoyed your time off. As for the game, I’m disappointed but still positive about our chance for Top 4. What I think is that Ange and his coaching staff should have the knowledge and ability to come up with tweaks to his system while maintaining aggressive front foot football. Especially now when he doesn’t have like for like replacements. Expecting players like Davies & Emerson to play the exact same way as the starters may work at CB but doesn’t work at FB. When he gets those player’s hopefully in the summer, fine. But, now if one or both starting FBs are out, he should be able to work something out without compromising the attacking nature of the team. Thanks again, Ali. Welcome back! COYS!

After all is said and done. After the excitement of Spurs' heady early season performance, let's be realistic, ladies and gents of White Hart Lane. Even the best managers of this world like Pep and Klopp needed a season or two before their teams showed any semblance of potential champions. Regardless of where Spurs end up this season, one can fairly imagine how much work needs to be done to a broken squad of players which Ange inherited. Fine, he's recruited a good number of new players, but he's also faced an unprecedented number of seriously injured players. If Pep and Klopp couldn't do it in the first 12 months, what right do we have to expect Ange to do a miracle? Judging him after 18 to 24 months would be more sensible. In the meantime, it's going to be a battle to improve the team and show more consistency against some of the best teams in the world playing in the most competitive league in the world. The last thing this mangled club needs is for supporters to make the job harder for the manager. Don't let the excitement of Ange's come hell or high water attacking football raise your expectations beyond reasonable limits. Yes, with some luck Spurs could still finish in the top 4, but that doesn't alter the fact that the team will still need a lot of work before they threaten to unseat clubs like City and Liverpool.

Thank you for the video, Alasdair. Hope you enjoyed your trip. It feels like there is a lot of negativity in the fanbase right now (especially on social media), despite how well we have done this year. Many of the other top managers in the league have been in charge for 5+ years, except for Emery, who still has been in charge for a year and a half. Ange definitely has earned the time to build something, as the squad doesn't fully fit him yet. Hopefully they can figure things out on the training ground because Palace will have a new manager bounce and most likely play a low block, like Wolves.

I'm a fairly level headed Spurs fan and I know Rome wasn't built in a day. The problem we have atm is that if the successful implementation of Angeball is about the right recruitment and not the system, our success in the transfer market may come down to whether we finish in the top 4 or not. Our chances of doing so become far less likely with the amount of goals we are shipping. Right now it feels like the age old mistake of trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results. No business, football or otherwise, should see clear re-occurring problems and not address them. Clearly Spurs have issues against a low block and these issues need to be addressed ahead of Palace. If Spurs don't put in a dominant winning display at home against one of the worst teams in the league, even the biggest Ange fans may start losing patience.

Sadly Emerson is a little out of his depth I am afraid as cover for Porro . A very good review Ali more so given the fact that you were not at the game. At the start of the season I said I would be happy with good football and a euro place and by that I don’t mean top 4. Like everyone else I see certain things that aren’t working, but if I can see them I am sure Ange can as well and will fix them given time. We just have to keep faith in Ange, Coys.

Question, how far away is the current spurs squad from prime poch squad, is it better/worse and where do you feel the weaknesses are?

I think the thing we as fans need to be grateful for is that we saw what this manager and team can do and the levels they can reach in the 1st 10 games of the season. We shouldn't be using that against the team just use that as a marker. A lot of players are back from injury now and will build up their fitness as the time passes along with the players who are back from international duty. Time and patience is needed if we want this to succeed and I'm here for the long term #COYS

Happy Anniversary to both you and Mrs Gold, glad you had some time away to celebrate the occasion 🍾 2 questions: 1) With Forster out, is it a concern for goalkeeper if anything were to happen to Vicario? 2) Overall, does Daniel Levy deserve credit for club's current progression / future development as Chairman? Thanks, Gordon Aeria

Q&A Hi Al. I feel that our high line and press has been found out by opposing teams parking the bus. Who should Ange use to breakdown the defence, and what kind of tactic should Ange use? Is there anyone he should buy in the summer to help with his future team?

Couldn't agree with you more. Your house and furniture analogy was close except the house was condemned!! I can't believe how impatient some Spurs fans are. Do they really think Ange is a magician? There's a good reason his contract is for 4 years. Patience people.

Has there been any news regarding the proposed end of season friendly in Melbourne, if not is there any indication as to when some might be released?

The squad so far is pretty decent and if they could finish this season by going all out attack regardless of anything. We will have had a fantastic season. With the end of season incoming of Bergvall and whoever, plus whats to come in the next window. We should be able to go into next season believing, 100% that we can win the league. Because mentality is 90% gaurenteed to give us a chance. We have the players, look how far we have come with a damaged season.

Question, could the recent drop in performance down to playing too many players who have just returned from injury around the same time? Also what was your favourite ride at Euro Disney?

Thanks for all you do for us long suffering Spurs fans, Ali. For the Q&A: you’ve mentioned you used to play football manager quite a lot and have also mentioned playing FIFA - what game(s) are you currently playing and what’s your favourite game of all time?

Lets be honest Mourinho and Conte left the club in a right mess. Levy is 100% to blame for this as he recruited these two terrible choices. However we now have Ange and its going to take time. Will the fans patience last after 3 horrible seasons? I think it will take until the 25/26 season for us to challenge at the top. Thats IF all goes well with recruitment and Ange is given the time. So far he has put us back on the right path....

Totally agree, I hold no blame to levy though, he's made a real statement to progress the club regardless how poor it was. Given a little more recruitment and we'll have a depth of squad to really contend. As it stands we've got some march and April fixtures that can change a lot at the top.. it's great to be playing better football to watch

I have yet to find any of our losses to be terrible given how new we are, but some do stand out, simply because the vigor with which we play seems to keep changing Like, something has felt a bit off in terms of simply pushing forward relative to how we started BUT at the same time, the way we started should be considered an anomaly.. we started so strong that I can see how others find the current 'state' to be lacking when in reality, we are still adapting and we have to keep pushing. edit: AND more importantly, others are adapting to our style. They weren't ready for us to hit them as hard as we did - now they are. We simply have to keep believing that we are better because we are - we are just not fully complete.

Ali, we scored a quick three goals against Brentford, it was nip and tuck with Everton, we were lucky against Brighton and outplayed by Wolves. Just maybe we should be rethinking this way of defending. We always seem so open. They say we like Netto but he was running into a empty half against us, he wont get that playing for us.
