Those tracks played during battles and the way they mixed them in-game was straight up insane... The tracks themselves are good, but the way they're triggered in-game makes these short tracks so fckn impactful xD

I remember ordering a cavalry charge and this song played. Dam good times

Sometimes it even felt the music was dictating the flow of battle rather than the other way around. I remember having my battered Roman force take on two massive Macedonian armies in Rome Total Realism, which turned into a brutal slog where even the velites were fighting in melee at times. This song was playing, and it was building towards a crescendo, and I instinctively felt it was time for a decisive move. I sent a unit of Thessalian cavalry against the enemy's general, they somehow got the lucky kill in the charge, and from there the whole Macedonian force began falling apart and I managed to claim the heroic victory.
Absolute masterpiece of a track. It's terrifying how good it is. Thank you.

The speeches make the songs unbelievably more kick ass! Friends! Romans! Countrymen! Am I right?

the speeches were one of the things they added on a whim that doesnt make a difference for gameplay but they hit it out the the park. i dont know who they lost in development teams from rtw 1 till now, but they need to rehire them

@@domnikoli Probably tons upon tons of people. I mean it's been what, 18 years since RTW released? Its not as easy as "track them down and hire them". Maybe they retired, maybe they move onto better things, maybe they just don't want to work on TW

@@domnikoliwhat do you mean it makes no gameplay difference? It hypes up the player and puts stakes into the battle. Heck it just makes the whole ordeal more real. It impacted way more then your letting on. There is a reason people notice the LACK of good general speeches in modern games.

For me this track, specially the 1:17 part, means Phalanx vs Phalanx or Cohort vs Phalanx. Close formations ready to fight each other

I get massive nostalgia of watching prince of Macedon videos back when I was a kid
At 2:10, I always imagine a general in the middle of a conflict, between two hand to hand conflicts immediately before, looking around, seeing the mayhem, the losses of his army, people dying all around him, realising only then that this might be the end, a fight leading to a loss. Everything going wrong (2:34), yet not willing to go down without a fight, therefore resuming fight till the bitter end, boosting the morale of the few left. (2:45). If this would be a Roman general, I imagine Varus would have heard this music in the Teutoburg Forest.

At 0:47 Roman Cavalry readying , 1:19 Roman Cavalry charging, 1:32 Roman Cavalry slamming into the back of unwary enemy spearmen and at 1:50 Roman heavy infantry reverse brought up.
this song played many times when my general was the last man to die. all his bodyguards giving their best to protect him. strange how this game's music can stir memories like that.
for me, this music is the sound of lots of my cavalry dying. mostly just the generals. specifically trying to capture a city.

thank you so much for uploading these jeff, the added speeches enhance the songs so much

"Friends, Romans, Countrymen! Today is a day for brave deeds. Today is a proud day to be Roman! Now, take up the sword, string your bow, look to your arms and armor! Now comes the hour where we test Roman Courage!"

When you're outnumbered 3-1 but your position is in your favour...

Imagine playing this during march to enemy
If someone someday makes a cover from this piece, they should replace the speach in english by the its latin version.

2:46 hit different
Phalanx pikemen kicking some principis ass
In French, "romantique" sounds and almost looks the same than "rome antique", which means "ancient rome".
On my orders.....unleash hell.
"ATTACK ATTACK AND DRIVE THEM BACK IN THE SAME WAY!"
Is it possible to find this song without the speech anywhere?
Was it me, or did this song only play when you were heavily outnumbered?
Rome 2 music was so ass that I had to subscribe to a mod that replaced all the songs in it with Rome 1 OST. This track gave me so much energy to win a lot of difficult battles.
Ahh yes Good old Roman Curry

Unless God forbid I die long before elderly age...I...Will....Have....You....Make....Some....of....My....Anime Music Mr. Dyck. If you see and read this I am truly a die hard fan near life long literally. Your music one of the few vg ost I listen to. It is beautiful. I loved your work since my first play through on the game as Parthia (gotta love the African Asian and Barbarians scream "Charge!" in their distinct accents....too bad m2tw lack that little bit) and I vowed to myself all who have made an impact small and large on my life I will remember them when I start writing anime preferably on cartoon network. I was literally 15ish when I first heard your music. Loved it since. I AM TURNING 29 COME APRIL THIS YEAR! I would be honored not if but WHEN I make it that you create similar masterpieces. This is a personal top 3 most emotional battle music I ever heard. I would love for you to replicate this on my show. Lol and I will bug you regardless til you say yes to a fan 4 life. :p

My attempt would be the following: Amici, Romani, cives! Hodie est dies ad agendum res fortes! Hodie, esse Romanus res superba est! At nunc, sumite gladium, stringite arcum, spectate ferrum armaque. Nunc hora venit ad temptandum audaciam Romanam! Disclaimer: there are many possible translations, so it is hard to say this is *the* translation.
