Mars, I remember 13 y/o me getting pincered by two Carthaginian armies in Sicily. Rushed the first army before the other could arrive in time. Not even a minute after I defeated the first army, the vanguard of the reinforcements arrived to my rear, and I quickly rallied my troops to face the second army. Although vastly outnumbered and my troops close to exhaustion, the Roman legionaries were victorious, with their general personally leading the charge. All while listening to this and Warrior March. Good times.

For me this moment happened with Macedonia while facing the greek city states. I took some serious losses while taking Corinth, much more than I expected, and decided to just abandon the city after plundering it before the two nearby greek armies could get to me. Turns out, I didn't make it quite far enough and the King of Macedonia and his heir got caught in a small forest by two full stacks. Outnumbered, I took the opposite approach and arranged my infantry in a semi-circle on top of a little wooded hill with grassy plains all around it and waited for them. My depleted phalanxes and heavy infantry with my son and heir in the middle, screened by lighter units and in the nearby forest across the plain were hidden away the King and all of my cavalry, still untouched from the siege. My infantry took horrendous losses but somehow managed to hold, with my heir's bodyguard unit losing more than half their men. The cavalry went unnoticed until they smashed the Greeks in the rear, but even then it was a close call. Even with my cavalry easily routing theirs and taking their infantry in the rear, they still had to retreat and regroup and charge multiple times before the hoplites broke. It was an absolute slaughter and the hardest battle I can remember, but it's the music that makes me really remember it.

I haven't played Rome: TW since I was a teenager (and I've moved on the Warhammer editions of the franchise nowadays) but this track has been etched into my brain for more than a decade. Like, in retrospect, I'm actually amazed that a such a niche strategy game from 2004 had such an incredible soundtrack. Stuff like this needs to get Hanz Zimmer levels of renown and viewership

@@exaggeratedswaggerofablackteen in more words: let's say its a Gaul vs Germania thing, I am Gaul: I have _Barbarian Cavalry_ ,and so after I send a unit of Swordsman to frontally attack the enemy german Spear Warband, I send the *Cavalry* to rear charge the enemy *Spear Warband* ; hoping they will break and rout But, right after I send my said *cavalry* to successfully rear charge the enemy Spear Warband, the enemy send their General's Bodyguard (basically enemy *cavalry* ) to charge against My own _Cavalry_ in its rear. Then this music starts to play. It is basically like when absolute chaos begins in a battle; creating a sense of disorder, and extreme urgency, or in one word: _Mayhem_ hope I could clear it up :)

This was the first battle music I heard in Rome total war. It was in the tutorial and the timing could not be better as just prior to this I had the chorus section of Soldier's chant go silent. Making me think that it was a game feature to have the music change as two armies charged towards one another. God damn it i fucking love this game.

I remember rolling an entire early game Macedonian army with a single unit of equites by charging the flank and the continual moral collapse that ensued. This song played and I can't think of a more fitting choice.

I can only ever see my frontline getting demolished by berserkers when hearing this.

This song goes well with students brawl.

How come the old game could collaborate a best music composer like this? Compare to these days. :)
