I've been trying to order them from Jackson's, but they have been sold out, maybe next month. They are not available in Australia. I agree with "Paint in Hiding", it's great how you have swatched them next to existing colours, this helps me cull a little. I have been collecting these beautiful affordable artist grade paints, for the past year and I cannot help myself...

Hi Mandy! I hope you are well 🙂. PO82 and PR290 are very earthy. They would be got in a landscape palette snd for skin tones. Perhaps they could substitute raw/burnt Sienna and indian Red? I love how you compare them with other pigments; it helps gauge the characteristics of each pigment.

Oh, I will get some of these when I find the large palette I have somewhere that has not yet been unpacked after moving! I really like these especially some of the dark darks, and have some near to but not quite monochrome work planned. Lovely to see these against the previously existing choice too. I love the Somali colours and the interesting results so will definitely go for that dark cobalt green too. What I like about these paints too is there’s a sense of adventure when you get them, and that I am not going to blow a years budget getting them! Your comparisons are very useful and remind me also that havIng similar colours is also really interesting. I do like mixing as well but sometimes there’s nothing like letting a pigment shine in its own right so that lovely purple is likely to be on my list. For reasons I no longer remember I got virtually no earth tones which seems to me to have been a bit bonkers, but maybe I really wanted more anyway and the excuse to buy them….

Thank you so much for sharing, though I missed your real-time reactions. 😁 I've been enjoying the new colors so far. I have the quinophthalo yellow by Daniel Smith and love it, so was happy to see it in this line. The Cobalt green is excellent in mixes and makes very deep, lush separations. I agree that the two PBr7 Blue Ridge browns are nice, though common, but I live near some Blue Ridge Mountains, so they remind me of home. I bought the manganese brown excitedly thinking it was like Schmincke's mahogany brown, and it is not, but still lovely. As for the shadow grey, I will use it as a replacement for the Payne's grey. I did lightfast tests last year, and noticed that it faded, then realized it had PB27 in the mix. Anyway, I still haven't gotten to play with these colors too much yet, but it's always exciting to get new pigments!

Thank you for this very useful sharing 😍. Having the new colors compared with existing colors is very practical. I find PB29 Ultramarine with little granulation useful for mixing. I prefer sennelier’s less granulating version to mix grey than Schmincke’s v granulating version

Thanks a lot for all the information in the video 💜 for colors like the Quinacridone scarlet or the PBr29 i can recommend Kimberly Cricks Blog. She does her own lightfastness tests over a full year. Both colors are rated LF I. 😊

Great video Mandy! I've been wanting the potters pink for a very long time. It's always out of stock....😭. The price has certainly gone way up since they first came out. I wish there were more outlets to pick these up besides Jacksons. Interestingly enough....these are posted on AliExpress online shipped from China. Strange right?

Ouch, that is strange, indeed. Personally I'd NEVER buy paints on Aliexpress. I don't believe official brands need that salesoutlet and I think that just like on Amazon, chances are you'll get a copy of the real thing. Over here the price of the paint is still at the level it came out with. Sorry to hear that overseas it's more expensive. It's my experience that protectionism is raising prices of art supplies for other continents/parts of the world, so it might be that. I'm sorry to read...

I find it hard to trust this firm, since they don't seem to have a website or a dot card. All they do, it seems, is send paints to KZread influencers, but it's very hard do buy paints based on swatches seen on computer screen. As for their printed colour chart, the colours have very little to do with the actual paints. Additionally, consider how much these paints cost. In the UK, Jackson's appears to be the only place that sells them, and full pans range £3.60-£5.50 open stock. Sure, not as much as Sennelier or Schmincke - but these companies charge (apart from anything else) for their reliability and accountability as businesses - which are so far lacking with RS. Taking that into account, RS paints aren't particularly cheap. By the way, speaking of dot cards... A few days ago I saw a listing on Jackson's for a hand-painted Roman Szmal swatch chart for...£49.95! Yup, you read that right.

I understand what you're saying and I think you have a good point. Normally I like to link to manufacturer's sites, but I have difficulty doing so since Roman Szmal only has a facebook page I know functions as a website and I quit facebook last year, so I don't. I have nowhere else to point my viewers to and an informative website is a necessity at this point where the brand is at, I think so too. Where the paint itself is concerned, thus far I've had very good experiences with it, but I've read that Kimberley Crick (also here on KZread) exeperienced problems with lightfastness. I selected the paints I wanted to try myself and chose pigments I knew were lightfast, so that might explain it. But I think you're right in deciding to buy paints from established manufacturers only. They have good quality control and consistency, very good information and often very good customer service. And yes, that adds to the price and I think that is also good value. It is the reason why I haven't moved on to buying handmade paints from aspiring manufacturers. It looks cute, such tins of paint, but for me it's not about having something that looks cute on Insta, I just want to paint! :-)
