Haha this blue belt acting like he was actually gonna give Rafa trouble, then looks all mad when he gets tapped out. Learn your place and be happy you got to roll with one of the best ever. Blue belt ego is funny.

Such a disrespect rolling from the blue belt. Dude, you were submitted by multiple time world champion and you act like you are disappointed and you were supposed to win. Smile while you tap to the world champ and don't try hard! Hope you're purple belt now and more humble than you were few years ago.

that's not necessarily true in Japan, especially in a community of martial arts. (We call it Budo 武道 : The Martial Path) It is a complete disrespect not to try hard or not doing your best of the best while doing a match, even in sparring. The act of not feeling disappointed at yourself losing means (at least considered) you didn't try your best and you were spoiling on yourself. Which shouldn't be happening in the place of match or even in a practice of Budo, because we are only able to study arts if people invest time on you. People who lived and died in the history of arts, people around you to train with you, people who mentor you. Doing best and put a maximum effort to get most out of your opportunity is considered as your obligation. It is also disrespectful to your opponent too. Even you win or lose, your opponent has their own beliefs as you do and thus, fight with them with full effort is the act of showing respect to your opponent. Of course this rarely apply to the situation of sparring, but it is true that Rafael Mendes is here sparring for his further learning, experience and realization. As an opponent sparring with him with that intention and ideas, not trying hard and stay easy on him is a total disrespect to his intention and ideas.

That just sounds like a lot of ego...which is disrespectful. You can try hard but still be humble and happy you are learning from a master. It's ok to smile while you learn.
