Rollerblade Blank Sean Keane Aggressive Inline Skate // Review

Спорт

These are the Rollerblade Blank Sean Keane Pro skates. They retail for around $330 US. This is a beta release of the Blank skate, the first new aggressive skate from rollerblade in years. It’s a revised version of the Rollerblade Solo boot, updated for the new generation of skating.
They come with Blank frames and Hydrogen wheels for both flat and antirocker setups. The liners are high quality with ample padding around the cuff.
What makes the Blank skate unique is the soul plate design. Rather than the frame mounting to the soulplate, it mounts directly to the boot. This creates a lower ride height, but might also make the frame less responsive.

I like them but I bought them shell only because of watching your first impressions video. One thing I really liked about the skates was how nice the buckle is.

Super cool story about you going to Oak City skate shop and finding all the nostalgic 50/50 products on display and didnt reveal who you were till later. I bet that was a shock. Congrats

I feel like so many skates came out around this time, it's all a bit mad! I found myself wanting to try multiple different skates, which realistically I can't let myself do. Didn't go for the RBs in the end and opted for the Mesmers, hope I made the right call!

@@stevenwright8335 kinda, it felt tighter in the heel than my M12s even with a thinner liner. I could have continued with them but the shell was also rather long in my opinion. I ended up selling them. I think if you have long narrow feet they could work well. I did really like the pebax material they used for the shell, it was really nice and flexy.

There are issues with the frame and soul plate for sure but these are hands down the most comfortable best fitting skate I’ve tried so far. (275mm foot in 9-9.5 shell) A bit of wax on the cuffs solves the squeak too

@@pouringblue7 on the 9/9.5 size, you can't get a 270mm frame on without having to dremel. Also, if you want to run Oysi it needs dremel work for wheels 1 & 4 clearance. A new soul plate design shouldn't have these issues and be universally compatible with major product options on the market

I'm not sure that there is really much for them to revise on this skate. I haven't skated Rollerblade since the Dirk era, and I did quit for a long time until a few years ago. When I saw that they were releasing this skate, for some reason I just had to buy it. It was right around my 40th birthday and very nostalgic to me. I see no problem with this skate, aside from the frames, which are easily swaped out, and the squeaking noise constantly. Once you swap the frame, it's just the squeaky noise that you always hear, but it's easily over looked in my eyes, because I love this skate. Also, the more I use it, the more I notice the noise going away, so hopefully it will go away totally soon enough. As far as the liner. It is clearly a high end liner and I guess it depends on your foot/ankle, because I have had no issues with it and find it to be great. I was trying to decide between these and the mesmers for my personal 40th birthday gift, and I ultimately went with the Blanks. From the majority of the reviews of both skates and my own personal experience, I am glad that I bought the Blanks. I love Billy, I grew up with him in Staten Island, and I'm sure he will be successful, but I had to go with what I knew from back in the day.

@@BacktoBlading I noticed that you are using them with Black Prime frames with Fromm gold hardware. I have been trying to get Prime frames for almost a year, and finally just was able to. However, I noticed that only white comes with the Gold hardware. I don't like the white frames on the Blanks. I know that you own the company that is how you got the gold hardware on your black frames, but is there any way for me/us to get gold hardware to go on the black prime frames? I think it looks really nice on the Blanks. Thanks.

Personally, I've found these skates perfect out of the box ( note: I use them with the anti-rockers ) and the best part for me, it's the liner. Really, really awesome for a stock liner, and I prefer them to my V2 and Premium Intuitions, in the Blank shell. My only complaint Is about the wheels, since we EU customers ( and UK as well ) have the black version, while the US customers seem to have the white version, which I prefer ... Apart this, I would say good job to Rollerblade, but next time be more clear and trasparent with your customers please ( also, because the EU pre-orders were taken and payed in October but shipped in mid-january instead of November )

The liner is very polarizing for sure. I know some people love it. Only thing I can say for certain is the quality is top notch, even though it isn’t for me.

@@BacktoBlading I agree. Quality wise they're on point, and I would say that the ratio quality / costs Is kinda unbeatable. But I really hope that they will change their frames or maybe make a more modern option for a flat setup.

@Back to Blading Was the RL1 liner your favorite in the Blank shell from your testing? I'm curious between how the RL1 fits it vs. the Crown and ideally what liner size for the 8.0-8.5 shell which is 268mm inner length. I know that would be a small in the V2 intuition liner, but have no idea about the others. Thanks again for the content!

The RL1 is the only liner I tried. It was a similar thickness to the stock. The shell is great for my foot size and I think the crown would be too big.

I feel like these are going to be a bit like the old Solo boots - rabid fans who swear by them or folks who just don't like them at all with only a few folks in the middle. I was a really big fan of the old Solos minus how quickly I would always wear out the old souls myself, so I have high hopes for these when they finally get released in my tiny foot size. I rode Solos with modded Carbon souls for way too long to not try these again.

As an older blader, 41, looking to come back after 15+ years, I'm curious what protective gear you're using. Especially knee and shin. I've seen you recently mention the sweat saver helmet, which sounds like an awesome choice.

I find it interesting these are made in China where the rest of rollerblades are made in Vietnam. Must be a recycled mould from a different aggressive skate that's very common in China. Also these hydrogen wheels don't say made in the USA like the others

I’ve watched enough of these reviews to know Law doesn’t think much of this skate. Fit issues, liner swapped, stock frame too long, pressure points… “Wait for the next revision”. You do the translation on that…

Looking at how far the rear wheel sticks out the back past the boot is comical. I’m a US13 so I rarely have that problem, like ever, but I feel for y’all with normal size feet.
