I agree completely with you, James. I've owned over a dozen other watches, including Omegas, Seikos, Tudors, etc... but ever since I downsized earlier this year and bought my no-date 114060, I've been completely fulfilled. I can't find anything that comes CLOSE

Making a speculative call to an AD in my search for a Hulk last year I couldn’t believe my luck when I was offered the Sub ‘No Date’ which had just come in. A customer who they’d called hadn’t responded within 24 hours and I was told ‘It’ll save us calling the next person on the list’! My lucky day 🍀

I expressed interest in a Submariner 124060 with my AD back in June 2021. After 4 months l got the call to pick up in October. Since l added the Sub to my collection, it’s been my most worn watch and can really serve as a one and done watch. The no date dial is so clean. Because l’ve worn the Submariner so much, l decided to sell my Speedmaster 1861 to set funds aside - hopefully my AD can come through for me with a Pepsi GMT this year.

Bang on. Sub with a cyclops is like a Land Rover with a spoiler. Unnecessary.

114060 is THE submariner to have. In the future it will be far more desirable than the date version.

Great video James. Congrats on the rebuy. Other than the Bluesy, the no date is my favorite model of the Submariner.

114060 owner here too. 2015 watch from new. I didn’t even know the ND sub existed at first and thought I had to go to a sea dweller to lose the cyclops which I couldn’t afford at the time. It was only when I stumbled into a second AD where they had ND model in stock that I realised. As a bonus, it was also the least expensive dive watch in the Rolex line up - There were several on display to choose from at that time! I laugh now thinking back, I was concerned that it might be perceived as the ‘cheap’ option! 😂

I couldn’t agree more with you James, I have had different SUB’s from vintage to each model over my 25 years of collecting, and only by default I secured myself the ND SUB in December 2019 from my AD when picking up Christmas 🎄 gifts 🎁 for my daughters, and it’s the best SUB I have ever owned, I love it 🥰 and wear it often as I am home a lot as you know. I have recently got the new SUB and I will also be sticking with my SUB from 2019 as it is just perfect for me with all its scratches, bumps and knocks.

Purchased the 114060 in July 2020 from the AD and didn't expect liking it due the critics on the super case lugs, but actually I'm surprised how much I like it. It's my daily watch (for now)

Prefer the 114060. Sub = no date. Looks clean.

I purchased my no date Rolex Submariner reference 114060 new from B.C. Clark, my local AD, and have worn it daily for several years. I remain very happy and comfortable with it.

Both the date and non date Submariners are beautiful iconic watches . I can see why some people appreciate the no date version because of the symmetry and the fact that the original, had no date . But I slightly edge towards date variant . Most people now associate the cyclops with Rolex. But i wouldn't say no to either . Good content buddy

Good choice. I could have purchased either one and went with the no date 40mm. Glad I did. Simply don’t want to be bothered with an unnecessary complication. However, having said that, I do like the way the Cyclopes looks. 👍

The no date is the true watch collector’s watch. 1. The original sub had no date. 2. The cyclops is ugly and clutters the dial. 3. The no date wears larger. 4. The no date is lower priced. 5. The no date is a rarer watch. 6. The date version is the office yuppie’s watch, not the adventurer watch.

I hate the maxi / super case. The latest reference is a vast improvement.

I have the same watch, I put mine on black Everest rubber strap often... but I don t think they are rare... seem to be actually common .. the "BMW 3 series" of watches

It’s quite telling though which one is more popular. Just try and request a Date from an AD. They’d come back and tell you a No Date will be easier to get.. 126610LN is harder to come by. So, looks like No Date is easier to score than the Date.

I was 100% set on the no date. When I saw the no date and date next to each other, I went for the date.

That’s funny because I’m waiting for the AD to call me with a Sub Date and I’ll sell or trade my 114060. The ND looks better, but I hate having to look at phone when my $8k watch doesn’t have the date.

The original submariner was 36.5 mm I believe. Don’t believe the 40mm came out until one of the references in the 60’s...

A submariner date is a true do anything, go anywhere GADA. Only true hunks can handle it.

I guess thats why most people buy a rolex, for it to be recognised as a rolex. I would go for the No date as it looks better to me not whoever else that isnt wearing it.

Wait, in your video 2018 omega sea master vs Submariner you bash the Rolex Submariner because it’s 40 mm and you wished it was 41 mm and you rather a watch be 1 mm too big than 1 mm too small and now you’re saying you don’t like the 41 mm and bashing Rolex for it lol. Some of your videos just sound like you hate on Rolex because they’re hard to get...

114060 was perfect in every way….In the last 20 years, the emerging market collector’s wrist size is definitely smaller so what is with the massive oversize clasp, oversize lug size and noisy movement. The BB58 is perfect at 39mm in case size, perfect 20mm lug size and thickness of just 11.9 mm….The new sub should have followed the same sizes as the BB58! The new 41mm is clunky compared to the perfect proportions of BB58.

The last time Rolex invented something really new, I fell of my dinosaur!

Nobody forces people to buy Rolex , if you dont like them or want them . It's simple buy something else . Dont understand why people hate on certain brands , whatever they are .

The 2020 no date has better aesthetics. Yes a 20mm bracelet would be better but overall all the improvements are what should have happened after the 5 digit subs. The 21mm works better on the new 2020 over the 20mm in the version on display here. There is understandable bias here but this watch is 40.2mm and the new one is 40.5mm. The newer version wear the same if not a little smaller.

@@jwatts5644 there is more of a harmonious transition from the lugs to the bracelet. It still isn't a dress watch by any means, but its done away with the extreme of before. There is still a squarish appearance.

@@jwatts5644 and the crystal has ar coating on the underside, half way there rolex. A functional and aesthetic improvement in allowing you to see the dial and hands a little clearer. And the slight reduction in thickness but 0.3mm increase in the diameter of the face and not the bezel has opened the dial up, a slight reduction in crowding, esp on the date subs that have the cyclops. Minor all round and I would prefer a 20mm bracelet and further adjustment in the lugs. Still, common as hell but hard to buy at retail, overpriced but ok if you are looking for an ego stroke and recognition, also appricated and resented in equal parts. What are your thoughts?

@@jwatts5644 without a doubt buy it and see how you feel. You won't make a loss but probably a tidy gain if you ever needed to sell. I'd like a new non date, I feel its too well known and others would judge/be a target for theft....but worth experiencing to see how you feel

@UCNUkpnGYu-_jpmlApJPWXiQ I suspect that those millionaires are either not into mechanical watches or dont want to flaunt them. I guess the money isn't a big issue if you have turned a profit on the last one. If you get the new one at retail then you'll be fine. But it is really well known and it does make you a target in the wrong area. Work colleagues are more likely to know that it worth 10k than any high horology watch worth triple. Omega will be more of a nice all round watch and brand. Try them all and see what sings to you. I have an old planet ocean before they got too big. I prefer the older seamaster 300m ceramic as it dressier, the new one is fine if you like it sportier and don't mind the size. All down you what you want.

Nobody talks about the bigger clasp? Are they trying to compete with Seiko and Omega clasps? Haha Probably the biggest flaw out of both Sub versions. 114060 over 124060 all day.

Submariner = awesome. Submariner no date = awesome. Submariner with super case = not awesome.
