I just purchased a mint condition 6424 model with a 36mm case. I love this watch. Simple, elegant and understated! Goes with jeans or a suit! Winding a watch daily suits me just fine. So much so that I rarely wear any of my other time pieces. I guess for me, the Precision model is all I need! Thanks for the great video!

Hi there, thanks for your kind feedback and gratulation to your first Rolex! The 6694 was produced from 1958 to 1989. Because of the diamond indexes I think it has to be out of the 1980s. Hey Leo, I found my 6424 on Ebay pre covid for a very inexpensive price without the steel bracelet. As luck would have it, a local family owned jeweler had a number of vintage steel Rolex bracelets in his safe. One matched my watch perfectly and he sold it to me for a very fair price. Sometimes, you get lucky. I had no idea how much this watch would go up in value these past 3 years. However, I bought it to wear not for an investment. Cheers mate!

@@GoldammerVintageWatches Aegler is a separate company, but they made movements under Rolex and were closely associated with Rolex. So closely associated that they named themselves Manufacture de Montres Rolex. However, they also made movements for Gruen at least until the 30s, and weren't technically owned by Rolex until 2004 if I recall correctly. Aegler actually dates back to before Rolex does though, having origins back to 1878. They were generally called Rolex's in-house movement provider but that's not entirely the case. Two separate, closely related companies, both using the rolex name yet technically distinct entities. As far as I can tell Rolex didn't have any in-house movement capabilities and rather relied on Aegler for their movements. Except in the case of the very early Daytonas which used Valjoux 72s and later El Primero calibers. It's semantics really, but it's an interesting story. Without Aegler, there would be no Rolex. The Perpetual movement was from Aegler for Rolex's exclusive use.

4:10 Is it actually safe to turn the hands CCW on a vintage hand-wound watch like that? Not gonna lie, seeing that made me feel rather uncomfortable, as I never see people doing that with mechanical watches, and most people would discourage even trying that.
