Great video! What I love about this piece is how subtle it is for a Rolex as most people who don’t know watches wouldn’t even recognize it, but it still finds a way to pop w/the orange and white.

@@axisofadvance666 I did not buy from an AD. I bought from a reputable dealer as a used model in very good condition with box/papers etc. I don’t remember exactly but I think my wrist is 6.75”

Man, your reviews are so perfect 👌🏻 The only ‘problem’ is that if I now read something about watches I ‘hear’ your voice 😅

Especially if you have a large wrist - this is a fantastic watch. I currently have 6 good watches, including 4 Rolexes, and I can say that my Polar Explorer II (the new one, with the 22 mm bracelet) gets about 80% of my wrist time. I have a Blue A.P. 15500, which is my special occasion grail, but for daily wear, I almost have to force myself to rotate out of this watch, to give the others a chance. And too think I didn't like it until I tried it on my wrist at the Rolex Boutique. It was the 4th Rolex I bought, but immediately became my favorite.

Excellent video. I have one as well and it is a stunning timepiece. I travel a lot and truly appreciate the GMT function. The 904L steel is amazing, and quality oozes from the watch. The GMT had in orange adds an amazing pop of colour. The chroma light is absolutely stunning in the dark with excellent readability.

I would advise anyone buying the earlier 40mm model to get a later example with the flip lock clasp. The earlier models use the poorer quality tinny clasp with holes in the sides

excellent review. was debating if this would be a tad big on my 6.75” wrist, looks nice on your 6.5”. i was heavily favoring the 16570, but now it’s a tie. lol

I just bought it and have a 6.75” wrist. Yes it’s a little bigger but it doesn’t really feel that much larger than a modern sub. I was worried about it being too big as well but it’s comfortable and looks great.

Have you reviewed the 226570?

The model before this the 16570 is the perfect explorer 2. A little smaller at 40mm but still with a modern enough movement.

40mm, I agree is considered to be the sweet spot for the most. I don’t mind a bit extra presence of this larger 42mm but agreed, 40mm is a little more understated and versatile.

The 40mm 16570 is neo-vintage royalty (gone up 30% in 2 yrs) it will be twice the price of the current model in 15-16 yrs just like the 16550, 1655, 1016 are. Big watch craze has ended now and 36-40mm is the sweet spot for next 15-20 yrs.

Beautiful watch someday soon I hope to own one! With the 50th anniversary edition coming out in 2021 I ask Rolex Why do all the minutes have to be in black? Why cannot they be alternating black orange for easier minute reading on the dial? How about a rotating 24 hour bezel in orange black with a Tritium Luminescent paint! Make it easy to read when the lights go out!

Great video. Really incredible video/ photography. Small point. The Triplock applies to the crown and not the clasp. And the Explorer II doesn’t have the Triplock crown system. It actually has the twinlock. 2 gaskets as opposed to three. Wonderful video. Well done.

Thanks so much for your very kind comment. It was actually a slip of tongue, I was meant to say “flip lock” clasp due to safety clasp system and i ended up saying “trip lock” clasp, instead of “flip lock” clasp. Thanks again for the info and watching :)

I bought an Explorer II, 216570, this year, but the luminescence material on mine is not blue, but green, like on the Batman, I had before. Maybe they changed the color, as mine is a 2019 model.

I think this would look awesome with white gold borders on the indicies and a bi directional bezel

Another hit Hafiz! Love the polar dial. No other white dials for me, this tops them all. I never thought about covering the bezel like that, what are you using?

Lug to lug is 50mm mate, unless you’re measuring at the bracelet and not the lugs? I don’t find it big on my wrist tho 😅

Get the model before the 16570. It's smaller and shorter lug to lug.

I do love the Explorer 2, but, looking at the quality issues, makes me wonder why people are prepared to pay double for some of their watches. I think retail is too much.

I’m thinking to get this . Would you recommend it ? Wrist size 7inches .

I find it fine even on my 6.5” wrist. Don’t think you’ll find it but. Lug to lug is 51mm so it’s not that it’ll go past over your wrist. 👍

I have worn rolex since 1989. I much prefer the larger polar 216570. I am no fan of unisex watches.

I also have this watch and I love it, but honestly, I can't really convince myself of the painted hands. The finish level of this watch is close to disaster. But I think it's all forgiving because it's Rolex.

So this watch hasn’t had ANY upgrades since 2011 ?

The only negative feed back I’m seeing in the internet is the 42mm size but would you still recommend this piece if available at the AD at retail ? or there are better pieces to be had ?

I have many, many watches including many rolexes. If I had to choose to have just one watch I’d keep my polar explorer II

Great watch. Unfortunately it’s a wall clock on the wrist. Wears more like a 44mm. Hopefully it gets downsized in 2021.
