Rolec EV Smart Home Charging Point Problem
Problem with 32A Rolec Home Charger with 10m tether.
Fitted by GSL Wigan 24/01/2020. Car delivered 31/01/2020.
I'm yet to charge my VW Passat with this unit.
I'm not using any 'smart charging' in the ev.energy app.
No scheduled charges are selected in the car.
The car charges without any problems on the 10A 'granny charger' plugged into a 3-pin socket, my friend's tethered Pod Point, Pod Point and EVlink chargers at work and Pod Point at TESCO, Formby.
The installer has returned and checked everything including the Rolec 'test-meter' but can not find a fault.
ev.power provide the app for Rolec and they can confirm the charger is not working when I have it plugged in.
I like the look of the charger and Rolec was the only manufacturer to have the option of a 10m tether... although, I'd getting towards the end of mine!!!

I had this exact issue. Spoke to Rolec's technical help and they solved it and walked me through the fix. Great support by Rolec
Thanks for uploading. I just dodged a bullet buying this rubbish from Rolec
Hi I'm having this same problem How did you resolve it? Thanks Ed
Does the smart Rolec have a app that needs to be configured?
I’m having this problem now.. Any advice on how you sorted the problem? I’ve got the company who installed it coming back to service it.. Any advice would be helpful
You need to commission it then go into app and disable schedule charging
Hi, did you manage to resolve? Through Rolec? If so, what was the problem in the end?

Hi Aasif. I can charge my car fine but the app is still not connecting
I had a similar problem. It transpired that the installer had inputted the wrong serial number.
User error. Set it up in the app you need to download.
I got the same issues, brand new charging unit, will not change from a solid blue light to green, seem to be the worse charging unit on the market.
could be the cable
The ground wire might not be sufficient.
You needed to download the EV energy app. That’s how you start and stop The charging process.
I have same problem but www.rolec.ev.energy fail fix my problem been week. anyone can help
Can you connect to WiFi network instead of 4G

Vincent Yore the Rolec only has telecom option
Did you manage to sort this? Was it a faulty ev charger?

Michael Gorewoda it was a faulty component within the charging unit itself. It has now been replaced and is working fine.

Is there a lock when not in use, to stop other using it? I’m in a car park that other could try to use.

Salamanda UK you are able to lock the ability to charge through the app.

Ash Marshall not sure if the app will work for me as I can’t get WiFi or Ethernet to the parking space. I take it the unit needs one of these.

Salamanda UK the unit uses a 4G sim
My similar Rolec unit works intermittently - it starts and stops charging randomly. Also it has little interactivity with the car - that is, I'm told the charger is not compatible and the app won't tell me how much charge the car has whereas commercial ones do. I'm not impressed.
In fact if anyone who has this problem wants to get in touch i can help. Thanks j

James Crickmore it was a faulty controller. The 32A controller was swapped and I can now charge my car. The reason this video is still up on You-Tube is that since changing the controller the app will not connect. Different serial number. Now in a viscous triangle between Rolec, GSL the installer and ev.energy the app provider. GSL are coming tomorrow to rectify their connection at the house main switch so hopefully they can get the serial number from the new controller and give it to ev.energy......?
