Roger Hodgson - Had a Dream

Музыка

This performance of Had a Dream from Roger Hodgson is from a September 3, 2014 show in Hanau, Germany and is the first time Roger performed the song live. Had a Dream has long been a fan favorite and is frequently requested. This fun, rocking classic is from Roger's 1984 album, In the Eye of the Storm, which was called "the lost Supertramp album" by one reviewer.
Roger's utmost mastery of songwriting and vocals very brightly glows on this release. He periodically performs several other songs in concert from the album such as "In Jeopardy," "Only Because of You," and "Lovers in the Wind." This spectacular album is available directly from the artist through Roger's store at www.rogerhodgsonstore.com/auto.... You can also download the album from iTunes: apple.co/1KeUFyl
After co-founding Supertramp in 1969, Roger was the driving force behind what fans call the 14 golden years of the band. He wrote, sang, and arranged the enduring rock standards that made Supertramp a worldwide phenomenon with album sales in excess of 60 million. Roger gave us the timeless classics such as Give a Little Bit, Breakfast in America, School, Dreamer, The Logical Song, Take the Long Way Home, It's Raining Again, Fool's Overture, and so many more. Although Roger and Supertramp's other co-founder shared writing credit, they actually wrote and composed separately with each singing their own respective songs. www.rogerhodgson.com/documents...
See Roger live in concert. He is currently on tour performing shows with full band, symphony orchestra, and solo and selling out shows around the world. Every concert is a powerful emotional journey and Roger's passion for his music and his art shines through in the magic and intimacy that is felt by the audience. We invite you to come to a show and see why each and every one of Roger's concerts receives spectacular reviews from media and fans alike. For tour details, visit www.RogerHodgson.com or / rogerhodgson
Roger's band consists of the following multi-talented musicians - Kevin Adamson (keyboards, backing vocals) David J Carpenter (bass, backing vocals) Bryan Head (drums) Aaron Macdonald (saxophones, harmonica, keyboards, backing vocals)

Just when you thought a Roger Hodgson song could not match anything he wrote and sang with Supertramp. This is just pure genius and perfection.

Roger one of the worlds best .....each song has an important message. From true reflection & experience . I was born in 67' He started in 69' I probably discovered him at age 9-10 have been a fan ever since . He took me across Canada and to the Carribean he's always been in my music when I travelled . A comforting voice of reason. Each time I travelled I let others hear him too. Priceless times .... I have caught him 3 times and sure would like to see him again if the Gods are willing to line up the Stars . I think of a John McCuchon song .. Been a longtime traveling. Here below been a long travelling away from my home .... May we always meet again till the last note fades away ...

I have a dream. Or I had one. My dream was to compose an album with Rodger. I don't think that dream will come true. But on the up side. Supertramp and Rodger Hodgson gave me many hours of wonderful magical songs. Back in the day. Sunday was SuperTramp day. Well at least for the afternoon while, Dad and myself Polished up our equipment. Well Rodger , if your still alive even, one song. If that could be possible. I can leave here satisfied. I'm better then anyone thinks. But Rodger is amazing. Musically...

I literally had a dream, and it was about this song. Last time I heard this it was 1990 when I was 21. I don't get out much (global invasions since 1991 have me depressed) and don't listen to radio anymore, so no subliminals could have reminded me. 27 years past without hearing or caring about this song. (back then rooting as many girls as possible in the back on my panel van was more important) Three years ago (age 45) after not hearing this, I had a dream. In it were the lyrics "Had a dream it was war. And they couldn't tell me what it was for. But it was something they could lie about. Something we could die about...". You know the rest. I woke up and had to google the lyrics to remember who sung it. One of the weirdest and real dreams I've ever had. Mr Hodgson, if I may, who was the enemy you were singing about back in 1984 when this was released, and who is Mary? (Mother Mary?) Thanks ;)

This is an amazing song and I remember it getting a lot MTV attention when i was in high school. Interesting thing is, I also recall RH getting run through the wringer for leaving Supertramp, being selfish, trying to be something he's not going solo etc. I liked this song when it came out but I love it now! The video was textbook classic 80s and the song itself is brilliant! This was a much happier and far more creative time in music!🤘

Had a dream I was born To be naked in the eye of the storm And now it's standing right in front of me What's it going to do to me, who knows, Had a dream it was time To be taken to the front of the line Well that is not a place you wanna be Sleeping with the enemy, you know I don't care what the future brings Give a damn about anything I'd be fine if they'd only leave me alone. But it's time - gotta take a stance 'Cause I won't get a second chance And I know now I have to make it alone Had a dream it was war And they couldn't tell me what it was for But it was something they could lie about Something we could die about, you know Anytime, anyplace When you look that man in the face Well it is not a face you wanna see Sleeping with the enemy, you know Mary, can you hear me Can you tell me what it's all supposed to mean Holding out a photograph of all that I have seen I wish I could hold you I wish I could hold you Had a dream it was time To be a witness at the scene of the crime Well, That is something you can analyse Something you can criticise, who knows So we wait, hesitate And we're making such a mistake Oh whatever can the matter be Sleeping with the enemy, you know I don't care what the future brings Give a damn about anything I'd be fine if they'd only leave me alone But it's time, gotta take a stance 'Cause I won't get a second chance And I know now I have to make it alone Songwriters: Roger Hodgson

Classic Roger. Thanks. having been privileged to be involved in various SUPERTRAMP and so many bands and their Rock Shows as a Personal Body Guard/Close Protection Specialist and one of my fav's was Super Tramp in Kitchener, Waterloo. Ontario., I can say that if and when we discussed their songs, their answers would ALWAYS be, "we wrote it with one purpose, and so many times, ours listeners will interpret it in many other way's, that's what makes song writing so fulfilling". So ROCK ON and Here is to years more of recovery. God Bless. Giving Thanks from Canada to the World. AMEN.
